How to setup reverse mirror tilt :9

Sorry if this has been discussed earlier.

Is there a way to setup the reverse so that Mirrors would tilt with it ?

Thanks

Based on this thread https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ghlight=mirror it sounds like the dealer needs to enable it. This was one of the features that MB disabled starting in 2006.

Just changed my passenger side view mirror to tilt in reverse - use setting /convenience mode page. Instructions in manual.

Either I'm really, really missing something or yours was purchased before it was disabled by MB and/or the dealers.

The same's true with the convenience feature of having the driver's seat slide back for easy entry/exit when the key's removed.

Would you mind posting details? Like others, I cannot find any mention in the manual of this.

I just asked my dealer at the 1,000 mile check and they flat said, "your model does not suport this..." They went on to say IF it did, they could add it to the command menu list in the display in the spedo cluster area. They also said the models that do it, it is ONLY the passenger mirror. When I need it, I need both.

I use seat memory position # 3 JUST for the two mirros in full tilt down. Backing out of the garage is a snap - hit #3, when going forward in the street, hit #1 and drive away

That's actually a pretty good ideer! I think I've earned a few points with one of the managers at my MB dealer, so when I go in for the pre-6000 mile tire rotation I might nudge him and say, "Hey, can you re-enable those features on my car? I promise I won't tell!"

Bet he doesn't.

Some, I don't remember who, have posted that their dealers have enable this feature.

By the by ...

May I assume that since we're in the US with the Command system in a world where the old Engineering Mode was not only posted on the Internet but sold on eBay that there is no way to change settings (say, to enable some of the 'lost' convenience features) through a back door or basically on your own? Or is there still a way to get into the guts of the thing and modify it ourselves?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

AdvTHANKSance!

It can be done by the dealership, less than a 5 minute deal. Live in Long Island NY and service manager total obliged without a cost to do it.

So, no, it cannot be done at home. Ahh, well!

Mirror tilt cannot be done at home They have to reprogram COMAND, I believe. Also, the old manual on how to hack in your COMAND is not valid for GL's COMAND, at least. Trust me, I tried.

Going to dealer sometime and will ask nicely for them to enable this. And, if that won't do it then I will go to the next dealer down the road

My GL does it. It is in the convenience menu. It has done it since I bought it.

You're not the first person to say this. Does your seat slide back when you take the key out and the wheel tilts up and away?

I don't know how quickly they did it, but they got rid of those "convenience" features very early on. People didn't understand them and rather than just having them turned off they simply disabled them. Which stinks.

Where did you hear about the seat sliding back, Steve? My wheel does tilt up/down and I think that is a part of P1 package.

Actually that was the service manager at the last pickup who told me that. He said they decided to disable it because of particularly tall people, both who would possibly be sitting behind the driver and who might be in the driver's seat and want the seat to slide back even further. One fellow was complaining that he needed the seat to go back further, and his wife was complaining that he'd crush their grandchild if he did. That kind of thing.
