fuel gauge problem

alright sorry to post another fuel gauge post but im not sure if i found the answer i was looking for. I just had my car taken in for a service b bout 2 weeks ago but it was working fine after so i dont know if it had anything to do with that. By the way its a 2003 c320 at like 34k. Anyway the fuelgauge doesnt work at all...when the instrument cluster is lit up (like before you click it over to start it) the gas light still works so i know it isnt that but when its started the gauge doesnt move at all. It just sits under empty and when you check the screen in the cluster it says the range is --- im assuming cause that gauge is broken. (By the way whiles its just sitting there the gas light isnt on or anything) That and i tried putting in gas just to be safe cause well im not sure wheres its at and it just clicks like when its full it wont take any gas it just keep clicking like every 40 cents. Does any1 have an idea what it could be? O yeah and my driver side door lock does a weird thing when it tries to lock like when i start driving and when i hit lock on the key it goes up and down over and over but half the time doesnt lock any1 know what that could be either?

search, but try pushing on your trunk--up and down repeatedly---my guess is the car's guage is stuck in one position--or the connection has come undone to the tank sending unit----

...

i had this same problem x2.

my dealer changed my cluster and they replaced it because the lcd screen was fading. after the change i picked up my car and noticed that everything worked fine except the fuel gauge. i called them and they told me that they must have forgot to code the cluster..... dropped it off... they coded it.... and now it works fine... this was in my 02 c240

this also happened to me when i had Roadside assistance install a new car battery for me. basically RA fried my rear SAM. i had a number of issues but the fuel gauge not reading was present.... this was in my 01 c320

anywho... with an 03... and only 34k you should hopefully still be under the warranty.. take it to the shop and let them deal with it....
