2000 c230 wiper problem!

Hello, I have a 2000 c230 kompressor. Well the wiper kept getting stuck in the middle position of my windshield, and I guess I completely blew out the wiper motor but I am not for sure.

Now the wiper doesn't work at all, but I can still hear an electrical sound when I turn it on. I heard something about the nylon threads in the motor may be torn. Is this something I can replace myself, or do I still need a new wiper motor? I tried moving the wiper with my hand but that does not help either, all fuses are ok.

Does anyone know a cheap place to get this part.. Most sites I've been to are $200 or more. Is it this difficult to replace? One guy said he paid the dealership $700 to replace the wiper motor. I knew I shouldn't have bought such a cheap wiper blade at autozone!

Your help would be appreciated.

It probably wan't the wiper blade. It probably was lack of lubrication on the wiper arm's movering parts and piston. This is a common source of this problem and something that should be lubricated every year at a minimum.

You almost have to remove the wiper transmission to see what the problem is. When you remove it you can see if the transmission is broken/loose or the motor i stripped. It could be as easy as tightening the nut for the transmission but you wont know till you remove the platic trim covering it.

Half the time when customers come in with this problem on 202's one of the nuts has just backed off the transmission. Either way you have to take the wiper cowl off to fix the problem; so go buy a motor and if you don't need it return it.

I just had this happen on my 2000 C280. The nut attaching the transmission linkage to the motor had come loose.

Common problem, I paid $700 to get mine replaced. "Broke" again a week later but the nut just needed tightening. Unfortunetly it was the straw that broke the camels back and I got rid of the vehicle.

Wiper Motor

I just had this problem with the blade slowing down and sticking after having a new one installed. My local dealer gave me the option of replacing the motor on my 99' C230 wiper or just lubing up the original. I went with the Lube of course and it works fine. He told me that they can do this a couple of times to extend the life of the motor.

ya or charge you for a new motor assy when you really don't need it. If you keep the pivot shafts lubed you'll be just fine. Don't waste you $$$ at the Stealership.
