Drive without grill?

Can you drive the car for a couple days while the grill is getting painted? What does everyone do while the grill is getting painted? do you leave the whole car @ the shop?

Thanks guys

I'm lucky to have a spare car, so I did not had to, but there is nothing wrong to be driving your new W204 with out a grill

I was quoted & payed $200. I had that number in my mind, and if it was higher than that was gonna say no. Very happy with the quality of the job. (I used a high quality professional body shop)

Is that including removal/re-installation or did you do that yourself?

I see no problem with driving around without a grille...just that it might look a bit trashy ha ha. Also might keep in mind that if you live some place that tends to have a lot of large stones that could be kicked up by the car in front of you, you might want to think twice about running it without the grille, don't need a busted radiator.

Better question. I dropped my car of today before the snow started to have the grill done, plate lights changed and the C350 badges removed. My buddy asked if I wanted flat black like the inside of the star is already or painted metallic like the car. He suggested the flat and said it would be easier to maintain and would adhere better to the plastic. What is or what did everyone else do ???????? Thanks. Dave

OH. I had him order me a roof spoiler too.

I painted flat just like the inside of the star, I think is a more sporty look, I don't know about you guys but I'm doing all the mods my self.

This one is easy for me...go with gloss black. For 2007 the ML 350 had a flat black grille with chrome slats and while it looked good...the ML63 with the exact same grille except for gloss black looked so much better. Now if you have Obsidian Black...that might look good in there as well.

I'm having the grille painted today for $37 but I have to remove and intal it by myself. But they will be the one to remove the chrome inserts in the grille prior to painting.

I'm located in the Philippines so it's cheap.

I'm going with FLAT BLACK instead of GLOSS BLACK. The guy told me they have done a GLOSS BLACK for a w204 but was later on changed to FLAT BLACK as it looks better on the car compared to the GLOSS BLACK.

Honestly I think FLAT BLACK is easier to maintain.

I won't advice using the car without the grille as some small rocks may damage your radiator fins.

Flat black is the way to go
I don't think, driving with out the grill is a big deal, I drove my car with out the grill when I took it for a 4 wheel alignment and I felt like every body was look at me, it felt weird

its totally fine to drive without the grill, but if you live in a large city where theres a lot of pebbles, it could be a problem but not a serious one. I got mine recently painted and drove without it for a few days and everything was fine. the cost of painting a grill can vary depending on the paint. I got mine painted metallic black so it cost more than for a the normal black paint.

WOW! That flat black just looks so tough. Kinda wonder tho if the flat black all over would be over kill? Since the car it self is such a highgloss. Could always just paint the whole car flatblack .
