I brought my car to a professional place and they couldn't find my factory amp to do the installation, so I had to sell my sub and amp. I don't have the HK system but I do have the MM system (navi)

Daniel

That doesn't make any sense. You sold your sub and amp because of an installer that didn't know what he was doing? Sounds like you took it to a shady place. My install place had no problem installing a subwoofer and an MTX amp. I posted the results here on the site. My installer tapped into the rear speakers for a "line level" output for the amp. Took him about 2 hours for the install..and everything went well. For the record...I DO have the HK system.

Hey Hazemonster,
Do you know what wire your installer tapped for the blue/remote turn on wire?

The place I took it to was well known and had been in business for years. But I do think the fact that you have the HK system makes it why you could install the aftermarket sub and amp in your system. I did here on other forums that without the HK kit there is no factory amp and the factory amp is built into the deck from what I read but I could be wrong. (I sold the sub and amp on a quick decision so I could have some extra cash to pay off for the VIM)

Regards,

Daniel

Where is the remote turn on wire connected to and how did he run the main power wire. Did he have to drill a hold in the firewall b/c the batt is under the hood in the W204 unlike my W211 where it was in the trunk.

You can run the blue remote wire to any hot accessory wire. There are a bunch in the compartment on the right side of your trunk. Simply take a 12v continuity tester with the puncture probe and poke it in some wires until you find one that turns on then you put the key in the ignition and turn it to accessory.

so anyone know how to run the power wire to the battery?

Newer amps have auto sensing remote signal from the speaker wires if using speaker level inputs.

You can use a number of aftermarket LOC. Some include the Audio Control LC6 or LC8, Rockford Fosgate 360.1, or JL Audio Cleansweep.
I have used the LC6, and the RF 360.1 in a W211. I liked the simple install of the LC6, however when I used the signal sensing function of the LC6 to trigger the remote wire on the amps there was always a delay. When I wired the cigarrette lighter to the amps there was a "pop." I was annoyed with both and got a Rockford Fosgate 360.1. With the RF piece there was no longer a delay or pop, but it required a bluetooth device to tune the piece. I think that is annoying and a turn off.

If I had to I would go with the RF or change out the deck completely. I am currently changing the deck and building a custom dash kit. I'll post pics when I finish (sometime this year).

As far as running the power wire, I did not cut out a hole in the firewall, I believe it was already there (this was a long time ago and I don't remember).

I also learned that if you don't have the HK system there is no external amp. The amp is built into the head unit, so you can get your inputs for your LOC from the back of the deck or tap the factor speaker wires.
