Question Looking at leasing a 2005 E55 (Canada)

I live in Toronto and am looking at leasing a 2005 E55 with 22,000 km (14,000 miles). The value of the car is $78K. It has all the option except Nav.

Approximately $10,000 is due at signing ($6,000 down, security deposit, and first month's payment). The monthly payment is $1226 including taxes. I get 24,000 km a year.

I'm sure to Americans this must seem expensive but you have to remember that every though the currencies are at parity (I think the Canadian dollar is actually higher today). The manufacturers have not adjusted their prices. A new E63 starts at $121,000 and goes up to $144,000 fully loaded.

I would say on average, you can get an '05 E55 for about 50% of the original MSRP in the US. Using an estimate of $140k for yours (w/o NAV?), that would put you around $70k. Of course, I'm not sure that you can even use comparable %'s when crossing the border?

Yeah depreciation rates are about the same so this car is probably closer to 55% - 60% of the original value.
