Why do people only tint the back windows?

I personally think it looks really bad...besides getting a ticket is there any other reason people don't tint the driver and front passenger windows?

I've even see people with tint all around except for the driver window?

And why do people tint with like the lowest tint that you can barely even tell
that there is tint....my preference is dark all the way around but that is just me what do you guys think and what are your reasons?

because just like YOU have a preference for all dark,
other people have their own preferences and don't care what other people think.

People tint their windows really dark to hide the guns and dope...and they have sex in the back seat!

I think cars with all black windows look good, however I can't stand being in one, in England it looks like your in permanent winter. People who have just
the backs blacked like to pretend someone important is in the back.
There is also another reason they get dark tints all round, it;s to stop the cops seeing you on the mobile phone which you now get heavily done for.
Personally I like the tints a car comes with.
As far as sex, it's a long time ago, but I remember steam done the trick.

I don't have any additional tint on my car, so I can only guess the reasons. A few ideas:

1. Many SUV's come from the factory with dark tinted windows from the B pillar back. This reduces heat in the rear section of the vehicle, but is still legal in states that prohibit dark tint on the front windows. Maybe the owner of the car is mimicking the SUV tint scheme.

2. Many states and municipalities have laws restricting tinting on front windows. Very few have any restrictions on the rear windows. Maybe people don't want to inadvertantly go afoul of the law.

3. Dark tint on the front windows reduces night visibility.

4. Maybe the owner is proud of his Mercedes, and wants to be seen in it.

It would be nice to know what the real reason is.
For instance, Mitsubishi Evo, Subaru and GTR often have just rear blacked out. What for?

Probably because they get pulled over so often because of their loud exhaust, they are tired of getting front passenger tint tickets

I've always thought it would be a great concept to have a special film that reflected black when light struck it, but applied zero tint to the windows. That way, one could black out their windshields without having any visibility issues. Anyone know if such a thing exists?

I don't know about black tint being light on the inside, but the tint the new S class has does the trick. I'm sure you already knew that, but that's all I can think of. BTW, is there a way to make the tint on the new S class more reflective? Like controlling it with the car somehow? Because some S class windows seem more reflective than others.. Sometimes you can't see through them at all at the correct angle.

Now this is a very interesting concept. However it would still be illegal, its not just a matter of seeing out your car, its also a matter of cops looking in to see who is in that car. You get tickets if you tint driver and pass windows becouse the cops cant see in. I can understand there point too, it would be very scary coming up to a car and not being able to see if the guy is reaching for a gun.

why spend money on getting all the windows tinted only to have a cop pull you over and write you a ticket? maybe they dont pull people over for that where you live but around here its pretty common. then you have to pay the ticket and pay more money to get the tint reversed. my car has the backseat + rear window with limo tint and the front is at the legal limit. i think it looks good on a black car plus i dont have to worry about the cops and really i could car less what anyone else thinks.

Watching a road wars programme the other night, and the cope stop a Range
Rover driven by some blonde bimbo with real blacked out windows, and she's on the phone. The cops said the tint stuck on was illegal and made her pick it all off while they waited, back and front, mind you it was dark!!!

She was lipping them bad, but the funny thing was the police can't touch your car, I suppose you could have them for abuse to your car, and they would not let her drive off with these bad tints, so she had to remove them all
while they watched, it really was funny seeing all this crispy bits of black coming off.

No way would that be legal in the US, although I've seen some cut up tint some years back and people claim it's from when cops stop the car for tints and cut it so you would take it off. Now any tint is LEGAL if your ophthalmologist prescribed it. Hard to get that permission but it can be done if you suffer from some specific eye illness where your eyes are sensitive to sunlight. You also get a special sticker on the car. I have 20% all around except the windshield and if cops would ever ask me to take it off in front of them I would have to tell them "Sorry, it came like this from the dealer, I can't just peel it off." I don't think they would impound my car for that... and besides 20% is not that dark, 5% would be pretty dark.

Maybe! but in the UK it would not wash with the cops, they would say
you should have prescription glasses, not car windows, and you said it!
people would see you through the glass, I feel this is the real reason for tints.
