Hey guys, im actually looking around and trying to find a w114 280ce. I need some advice in terms of maintenance, specs, what to lookout for.
Any help or advice would be great-as im going to sell my C36 for it and make it my daily driver.

Cool to see a w114/115 section. I'm considering one, and have a set of BBS RS 009 8x16et11 wheels (ideal for a r/c107 or w126), and I'm wondering if they'd fit on a w115 (diesel).

Anyone know?

There are no tires on the BBS RS 009 right now, but I've got a set of 225/50/16.

I guess I should start by learning the stock tire sizes for a w115. Anything? Anyone? I'm good with calculating backspace, frontspace, and use the rimsntires.com site for diameter.

Thanks!
Mike

I'm also in the market, would be nice to hear what owners think, and some common what to look for areas. Pictures and restoration ideas

Consider joining the MBCA

I've been a member for several years and most of the members have cars from the 50 s - 90s. There are many tech articles and vendors that specialize in older models including the M115 series.

Check out their website

www.mbca.org

My friend just picked up a "barn find" car and used their article to get a realistic value.

Hope this ok to share on this website. The two complement each other.

Start From these PERSONALLY CONFIRMED measurements, (I have detailed measurements written in my build log but I've recently moved and haven't found my book yet). I had on the back of my w115 19"x9.5" ET35 with a 5mm spacer. With the tire the diameter was about 21.5". On the front I had 19"x8.5" ET32, same diameter with tires. I lowered it about 2" in the back and 4" in the front also rolling all fenders and I rarely rubbed. There is A LOT of room in those wheel wells as long as you stay + with your offset.
I hope this helps, message me if you want more details. I sold mine and I'm starting again with a 1970 250. I have the same BBS RS idea and I'm going to experiment with different coils and shock combos to get LOW.

1974 240D, need to know how to maintain it

I just purchased a 1974 240D, and it only has 133K miles and pretty good shape for the what I paid. However, there are things that need to be fixed, which I'm going to get a list from my MB mechanic.

Until then, the car drives great and seems to be a good daily driver. So my questions are:
1. How can I keep it running great?
2. What are some major issues I should be watching out for?

Wow, that's great! Congrats. I really miss my old 1975 240.

You probably want to start fresh with fluids/filters/hoses & maybe glow plugs (unless you know that previous owner recently did that stuff). As for ongoing maintenance, these cars are pretty simple and very bulletproof. Just change the oil at every 5k and adjust the valves every 15k or so, and remember to pre-heat the glow plugs twice on cold mornings before you start it. That's all we used to have to do on our manual.
