Replacing Steering Wheel Angle Sensor
Does anyone have pictures of where this unit is located? I've read the posts and it seems that this is the probelm with my car (ESP non-functional, active headlights non-functional, and cruise control non-functional). Also, the MB part number I found is MBN 171 545 10 32, is this correct?
I have a '06 CLS500 with around 10,000 miles.
Thank you in advance!

Thanks guys for the help. I really dont want the dealer working on the vehicle if the fix is so simple. From the other posts that I've read people are saying they are in and out of the dealership in 45 minutes. Anyone have a tech manual? I would love to do a write up on this as it seems this is a very common occurence.

I would suggest you have the dealer replace it under warranty. Current part # is 1715451432 (for comparison shopping, parts.com $120.75) see 80 in attached diagram. DIY you will need to remove steering wheel, air bag, contact spiral (90) and switch module (10). Battery does not need to be disconnected be sure to remove key / KG smartkey from area. Fault code(s) need to be erased and new steering angle sensor needs to be initialized with SDS.

Thank you for the help! The warranty has expired on this vehicle, but I do know that the Star Diagnostic System will be needed to clear the codes. A MB tech told me that after the install you need to turn the wheel "lock to lock" in order for the part to understand true center.
Is parts.com the best place to buy MB parts? Are there any dealers that support the forums that sell discounted MB parts? Thank you for the advice, I truly appreciate it.
