Low Beam, Left Bulb out

Just when I switched on the lights, saw this message and verified .. The left low beam is out, any suggestions on how to change out the bulb ? and which bulb type & brand to use ? I have halogens

Autozone has Stock bulbs and the following brands:

- Silver Star
- Silver Star Ultra
- Sylvania
- Xtra Vision
- Cool Blue

Silver Star Ultra has note Night Vision with blue colored bulb, for $26.99 is it an okay bulb ? I dont want any electrical problems due to a bulb with different wattage etc

Even the user manual explains how halogen bulbs are changed. The correct bulb types are mentioned too. In my opinion the blue and similar are just cosmetic that make the bulbs more attractive for buyers but perform worse.

H7 ?

My 05 CDI uses H7 halogen bulbs. The left bulb is a little harder to change than the right bulb on my car because of stuff in the way. It is a reach in, turn left and pull out. Don't touch the bulb with your fingers because it can cause a hot spot from the oil on your skin. Use rubber gloves. If you know how to do it, you can change the bulb in 5 minutes.

I used the Silverstar Ultra in ours when I need replacements. I bought a pair. One of them failed at 10 months and I wrote sylvania and they sent a replacement pack of 2.

There is a noticable difference in brightness on the ULTRA at the trade off of shorter life.

Not a difficult job to change one "JUST DON"T TOUCH THE BULB WITH BARE HANDS" The oil from your hands will cause it to fail. I used cotton gloves and did not touch the glass and still had one fail.

Don't forget to replace both of them.

The Silver Star Ultra does indeed provide noticeably better illumination than a regular stock halogen bulb. My experience is also that they only last eight to ten months.

After replacing so many of them in my daily commuter Honda Civic, I finally decided to install a regular stock type bulb. If your MB is your daily driver, then carry spares, and be prepared to replace the Ultra bulbs pretty often.
