what could cause the brake grinding noises?!

It just start happening all of sudden now days, it worry me since i drive 100 miles highway everday

brakes pad are Hawk HPS and Rotors are some 3rd Party Slotted rotors i had not more than a year, they were braking like magic before but all of sudden they start making crazy grinding noise when my car brake to about a complete stop. So when i get my tires mounted i also have the guy check out my brakes they say they look perfectly fine, and say there were at least 50% life left.

so what could have cause this? low brake fluid? some hidden crack?

My hawk pads on prev cars always made noise, it was just the nature of the pad as far as every one knew.

My brakes make "grinding" noises when ABS or ESP engages.

maybe a wheel bearing? You should jack up the car and spin the wheels. If the wheels spins freely..then your wheeling bearing is shot.

RWD front wheel should spin freely when off the ground regardless. if your front wheel can't be spun by hand when off the ground that only means you have something that's wrong with your brakes.

unless you see excessive oil leak out the hub of the bearing or hear grinding from the bearing when you spin it your wheel bearings are fine.

if you want to check wheel bearing, then jack it up and grap the tire up and down or left and right. shake it. if theres free play then its wheel bearing problem.

steering wheel vibration left/right = front wheels. up/down = rear wheels.

most likely it's your wheels are out of balance.

try this....

while driving at 30mph or so, windows up, radio and ventilation off, lane change hard left then right or the other way what ever and listen( no braking). A hard swerve will put a heavy load on each of the front wheels individually. You will hear a bad bearing if there is one, otherwise, cheap pads or cheap rotors or both.
