E55 or E63, what is better?!

Complete nube here, stepping up from a modded out Viggen, I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'd like to hear what you have to say.

E55 or E63, pros and cons of both. Not sure which one to get, seems as though the E55 might feel "seat of the pants" faster than the E63.

Also any problems when it comes to breakdowns and repairs, any options to stay away from, i.e. Dynamic seats, distronic, etc.

Thanks in advance.

I went from a '05 E55 to a '08 E63 to a '10 E63...

IMHO, '08 E63 < '05 E55 < '10 E63

E55 vs E63 depend on your budget
E55 2006 cost about low $30K
E63 2007 cost about low $40K

$10K differences you can actually do a lot of mods.....

The E55 is a more capable platform in terms of power production.

The one you own is better than the one you don't own. Find the car you like.

Personally, I have an E55 and love it. Never driven an E63 and don't feel the need.

If you're interested in modding for more power, the answer is very simple. E55.

My bad, I did a search, didn't come up, was like WTF there has to be 20 threads dedicated to this, I think my search is not working?! trust me after years on a Saab forum I'd be pissed about a nube asking what upgrades they should do to a Viggen when there are already 30 threads dedicated to it....... so I hear ya

With these cars its like comparing Jessica Alba or Jessica Biel, you aren't doing bad with either one, but I'd like to know which one is crazier in bed....or who's going to flip out on me when I come home late, know what I'm sayin.

It's kinda like asking who is hotter blondes or brunettes, its really up to the driver. If you like to mod your car and are looking for maximum power and get off to torque get the E55. If you love the sound of the 63, the updated looks, and the still quite capable amount of power in the E63 do that. The E63 front clip does just bolt onto the E55 if looks is all that sways you.

E63 2007 is about 50K or more depending on miles, what are you smoking CharlyE500? If you want one for low 40s the ticks will be high. Don't buy a POS.

If you do research, the 07 is about low $40K

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...b&cardist=2287

This one still has bumper to bumper warranty, current mileage 41K
Warranty expire in Oct28 2010. Pano-roof....

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

THis one is $42999 before even negociating the price !
Mileage: 36K for 3 years old car, 12K/year is very normal usage.
What are you smoking to think low $50k ? do research first.

Looks good as a starting point. You probably know this stuff but still worth mentioning. Are you in the LA area? If so, go inspect the car closely on a nice day. Take an hour and look at every conceivable place for unusual damage or wear. Make sure they have all the books, two keys that work, and make absolutely sure that the tires match all the way around. A trick they will use is to replace the rear tires and not the fronts, look closely. Look at the seats for stains and wear, did the driver essentially tear up the seats as he exited the car. Finally, drive the vehicle and accelerate to at least 100, it should respond smoothly. Remember, the dealer won't want you to do all these things and will try to get you into an emotional state over the car.

Looks very clean (almost too clean) but make sure there is no paintwork and take it to a body shop if you are really interested in the car. Don't let them pick the shop. Use the VIN and get someone to run the service history for you, were all the oil changes done on time? Don't act excited about the car when you see it and make no offer on your initial visit. It looks like they have had this car for awhile so perhaps a couple of grand more and you will have a nice car assuming your research checks out. Last thought on this car, it is priced somewhat under the market, why is this car dealer willing to let it go? Has to be a reason, these guys don't like to lose money.

Remember there are tons of cars out there and the Mercedes dealer can give you a CPO warranty to 100K miles and some peace of mind. Have you looked for cars at www.mercedes.com? Prices there are high but you can make a good deal with the market the way it is. It's a hassle but these are the best cars.

Good luck finding the right one.

I know that place in Studio City. Sorry, but that's the last place I'd ever go to to buy a car. They are a leasing and limo service selling "luxury dream" cars, etc.. You know the kind of place...

fwiw, research doesn't mean just looking at all cars and prices across the board. It means zeroing in on one or two possibilities and then researching those specific cars. After all, you are buying a specific car, a one up, and not just E63s in general.

You get what you pay for. There's no cheap lunch in the world unless you like eating crap and/or getting food poisoning down the road.

p.s., Sack, I mentioned the accidents with both those cars. It was obvious why they are less than retail. And the Luxury Ride one for sale will have a story, too.

+1 You are not gonna touch a well maintained E63 for under very high 40s.

No offense to 63 owners I would say 55 all day - but -I would admit stock to stock I like the 63 a nudge better bc of interior upgrades and the few exterior things- pointier cowl....but I never leave a car stock and as soon as you put a pulley upgrade on a 55 with some tuning you cannot deny the raw power of this beast.. I also like this cars exterior much better than the newest generation and think the new 63 looks like a Hyundai -- sorry just my opinion..

Glad everyone took it easy on you since you are newer. That is definitely an explosive question and it's gone nuclear here a few times.

Whichever way you choose, just know that Benz is about to go twin turb in about a year or so.

Will change the whole game of resale for your 63 if you go that way.

Just my 2 Euros.
