i was wondering if anyone knows of any places in san diego to do some suspension work. i wanted to install the eibach springs on my coupe. some shops are quite hefty charging around 300 just for installation. from the board i noticed shops like d2technik charging 330 for springs and install and was wondering if anyone know of any shops in SD. thanks. any help is much appreciated

We have a small shop in South O.C. call Mercedes Benz of Laguna Niguel. They quoted me $275 for the install complete with aligment and camber bolts. I had mine done at D2technik but then I had to pay MB of LN $140 to do the alignment and front camber bolts so I don't know if I saved much and I didn't get an MB loaner at D2.

With the longer camber bolts they'll be able to get the front camber within a hair of spec, forget trying to get the rears in line. Stock shocks, AMG sway bars, no problems. No matter how you look at it you should have it aligned as correct as possible.

It takes about an hour to do the 4 springs. I've done the rear myself on another C and it takes about 30 minutes, the fronts require a spring compressor. Are you sure these shops that want $300 aren't including something else like alignment and camber bolts?

Check with the forum member KWIK. He's done a number of installs for some members, including myself.
He's knowledgeable and experienced.
Prices are pseudo negotioable if you bring Pepsi.
He's got all the proper tools so the install goes quite quick.

Unless Autoworks includes the camber bolts and alignment, the dealer is still cheaper at $275 including a complete alignment, full service car wash, having an MB dealer stand by their work and an MB loaner car. Face it, just to do springs and nothing else for $200 is still robbery, it's a 1 hour job for a good shop.

why are you so stuck on getting the camber bolts? I'm assuming people put in new springs to help improve the handling. If that's the case then the added negative camper is a good thing. Even with the lowering springs, my coupe was only at -1deg. I wouldn't mind another -.5, and the tire wear still isn't bad.

I stopped by the dealer yesterday to buy a pair of #1 pads and the camber bolts, but the tech told me that camber adjustment bolts are included stock on the car. He had a part number for the camber bolts, but he explained that my purchase would be unnecessary since that particular part was included with the stock suspension, and that it would be fully adjustable.

So the question is: Am I missing something here? I was under the impression that bolts would have to be purchased (the stock camber being un-adjustable), or maybe I need a set of bolts from a C32?

I want to be sure that the camber will be adjustable when I get my springs installed.

I think the bolts you are looking for are "extension" bolts that allow a greater adjustment. I needed them on my E and CLK. If you complain under warranty (1 year) you can get them free.

From what I've been told, it's the camber bolts from the C32 that are a little longer. The dealer did it as part of the alignment and I told them it was lowered. They charged me about $48 for the camber bolts installed. They did get the camber just at spec with the bolts.

The part number is 000 330 0018.
You will need 4 sets of bolts. I just purchased them for my car yesterday. It will allow camber and caster adjustment.

These bolts were not included with stock. Not all the dealer have them.

If the car is within spec, no. On the other hand, MB doesn't publish an alignment specification for lowered cars. The proper alignment for a lowered car will not be the same as stock.

Wouldn't it be possible to get those specs as MB does have factory consumer options for lowering in Europe (sport pack, AMG). Maybe Patrick or some of the European members could get that info.

I'm wondering how do you guys deal with your camber problem esspecially when you lower your car? My shop told me that there's no factory camber adjustment on our car. Is this true? Are there an aftermarket camber adjustment kit for front and rear available out there?

It's not a problem that require major attention...but wouldn't it be nice if we can still have factory setup camber? I'm running front -1.3 deg and rear -2.5 deg . The factory setup is front -.7deg and rear -1 deg (that's what I had before I lowered the car).

There are a part called crash bolts you can use for the fronts. It's a centric bolt, no biggie.
