Get it from your local dealership. I think I paid $9? PN# 126 270 44 77. They identify it as a "thrust pin".

Why are you pulling the engine to do it? You realize you can just drop the pan to do it right

Here's how to do it

im replacing the engine. i spun a crank bearing on a connecting rod and destroyed a piston. shattered to peices. so wen i had the tranny out i wanted to do some things to it. and it just started to surge between 2nd and 3rd. do you know what would make it not want to shift into 4th sometimes. its only done it twice but it wouldnt shift into 4th under a load.

If you have it out and it won't shift into 4th, you'll need a rebuild with the bands further in. I didn't go that far into mine, but its only a few steps further.

arent the bands what u pulled out just a few steps into your rebuild post? the first one was burnt up. if its gunna be a big deal im not gunna bother i dont really have the money to put into the tranny. i jus had to buy a used engine and gaskets.. its only done it twice i think. and to wut i know the tranny has never had a service. im just guna do the shift kit and a filter. any suggestions on wut trans fluid i should put back in it. every time any 1 i know thats done a tranny service and put new oil in it always have shifting or slippage problems after. i was just going to filter the old oil real good and reuse it..

Reason why they slip is because you replace the old dirty gritty oil which that dirt is part of the bands and clutches but with new clean oil that acts as an better friction reducer causing the slippage. Normally you can buy an additive that can help reduce this or stop it (like snake oil) but mostly reduce it. If you see brace in your pan when you change your filter then your tranny is on its way... but dont reuse your old oil.....I recommend the oe transfuild from MB or the compatible stuff from Redline. your napa or orielys should have it.
