how do i go about doing one and where do i start?

Getting into a W210 I'll assume you have done your homework on repairs and some DIY to keep the repair cost down. 1st things 1st get yourself a good Indy shop that can do the repairs for you. 2nd keep cost down by buying parts at this site http://www.autohausaz.com/ 3rd get your car in for a full inspection. On the W210 maintenance is Key. As long as you keep up with it she will run 4-ever.

A simple 100 buck tool kit is more than enough with the addition of the special 17mm spark plug wrench and some simple parts you can pick up at your local parts store.You don't need autohausaz.com on this tune up job(they are great for everything else but a tune up you can get spark plugs at autozone or what ever you have local.
Change plugs,clean mass air sensor properly,change the air filter,change the oil.Inspect belt and hoses etc and you are done.

How many miles on it ?
since that will determine what other work I will have you learning to do

its about 147k miles now i just did the oil change and changed air filter checked all the hoses for leaks and theyre all good just cant figure out where the spark plugs are

First remove the engine cover. It just snaps in place. Lift up at each corner smartly until it releases. One corner, RR, doesn't have a fastener.

Along each side of the engine there are 3 coil packs (black plastic about 4" square). Out of each of these come two plug wires. Each plug wire goes to a plug but what you see is a shiny nickel plated plug boot. The plug itself is buried in the recess that the boot goes into. Plug changing requires pulling off the boot to gain access to the plug. As you will see the space is pretty tight so it takes a while. No math prob your car has 12 spark plugs.

Some tips: Remove the coils to give yourself more room. On the right side remove the upper half of the air filter housing and the MAF unit. The boots can be difficult to get off. Many people use a 17mm open end offset valve adjustment wrench (MB Part 110 589 01 01 also poster Ohlord sells one) to 'pry' the boots off (and back on). Pulling on the plug wires to remove the boot will probably result in damage to the plug wires. The plugs recommended in your owner's manual are no longer available. Use the appropriate Bosch replacement and you should be fine.

You also need to inspect your brakes. Even though you have pad wear sensors you should check the thickness of the pads and rotors about every other year or every 20K.

The brake fluid should be flushed every 2 years and the coolant every 3 years. There's a booklet with your owners manual which details all the service cycles. It's called a Maintenance Booklet. If it's missing you can get one from a dealer or call 1-800-FOR MERCedes. Free or a small fee.

ohhhHhh i seen those wires but wasnt sure i kno its a v6 but could figure out why there was 12 wires got a lil confused but thanx guys my first benz
