Thumbs up Techron Fuel System Cleaner

Hope everyone is doing well.... recently in stop and go traffic my car would jerk a little. After a week I decided to go with my trusty Techron Fuel System Cleaner (2 12oz bottles) Every oil change I always follow this maintenance until recently. The next following day I drove the car hard on my way to work and when I hit my a.m traffic no more jerk from stop and go (this is the best why I can explain it)

I've been doing this since the days of dawn. Recommended by a few mechanics and even my last mechanic who worked at MB and now owns his own shop. He told me this stuff works great on cleaning your injectors. It also increases your MPG.

I only pump 93 Shell fyi:

This review is from: Chevron Techron Fuel System Cleaner (20 oz.)
Believe me ... this stuff really works !!!!

About 10 years ago (circa 1998) I performed an overnight
experiment using three fuel injector cleaners. Techron
was one of them and I cannot even remember the name of the
other cleaners. But, here is an account of what I did:

I took three old sparkplugs with noticeable carbon deposits
and placed them in individual containers and then I poured
samples of the three fuel injector cleaners into the
separate containers to immerse and soak the sparkplug tips
overnight with the separate fuel injector cleaners.

24 hours later the Techron successfully dissolved the carbon deposits
and the other two "fuel injector cleaners" did NOTHING!!!!!

So I decided to use the Techron fuel system cleaner
on my Cadillac with a Throttle Body Injection (TBI)
system -- which was starting to hesitate
on acceleration and had developed an engine murmur.

I was so impressed with the Techron results that
I became a loyal Chevron station customer
(Chevron gasoline contains Techron).
Since my conversion, I have never had problems
with the Cadillac or any Fuel Injection System.

I even get Chevron when I rent cars -- that is how loyal I am.

A few months ago my Mother's Toyota Sienna developed
a similar murmur and I told her to use Techron -- problem
solved with one 20 oz bottle.

My Mother lives in Illinois (Chevron stations are few or non existent)
So, she must use the concentrated bottled Techron.

Later, her truck also developed a terrible murmur.
It was so bad I did a tune-up on it
(sparkplugs, distributor cap, rotor, timing, air filter, etc.)
Murmur did not go away.
Then I poured a 20 oz bottle right before a full tank of gas.
The murmur started to decrease on the drive to the house
and eventually went away.
Problem solved!!!!

A few weeks later, my Brother shared his
miseries with his car starting to develop a murmur.
Both Mother and I said "TECHRON" simultaneously!!!

My Brother's problem was solved with a 20 oz bottle of TECHRON.
He said the murmur went away by the time he got home
after pouring the 20 oz bottle on a full tank of gas.

P.S. Texaco gasoline also has Techron in it,
but not sure if available at all Texaco stations yet.
Chevron started the Texaco station conversion in 2005.

Seafoam.

It's fun, especially if you have a high(er) mileage engine. A few years ago, the local Fire Department rolled up to my house when I used the stuff on a motor with 100K miles on the clock. No one called them, they saw the smoke plume.

Be careful though, too much too fast, and it may kill your O2 sensors.

I went to grab a couple bottles since the local Autozone had a buy one get one free offer going but unfortunately it was over. So I figure I'll just wait till the next time and grab a couple bottles. Haven't run it through yet and figured it's probably about time to give it a try.

If you're talking about Seafoam, one bottle should do you. Use 3/4's on the engine, and the rest, pour into the fuel tank.

If you're talking about the Techron additive... Well, it's only what, 4 bucks a bottle?

Actually, I might have a left over bottle of Seafoam from when I ran it through on my old Acura TL-S. If I do I'll put a little in the gas tank on the next fill.
The Techron is something like $9 a bottle. I know....not going to bankrupt me, but hey, if I can get BOGO then why not wait another month?

I've used the Lucas fuel system cleaner on my engine and it had a very positive effect - feels like I ran a can of BG44k through the car. I like Techron, but I never felt that it had any lasting effects after it burned through my gas tank. BG44k and the Lucas cleaner seemed to have more long lasting effect on performance and smoothness.

Ok, so I checked the garage. I have about 1/3 of a can of Seafoam. I also have one of those 5.25 fl oz bottles of Lucas Upper Cylinder lubricant and injector cleaner. In order, would you use....

1) 1/3 can Seafoam
2) 5.25 oz Lucas treatment
3) Just wait till I get a bottle of Techron

For seafoam..

don't put any in the engine oil... that's only meant as an engine flush really to be honest.

Put a full can of seafoam in a half tank of gas and run the **** out of the engine... that will clean up most of your fuel system. You want to get as high of a concentration moving through the fuel system as possible so a full can & half-tank of gas should give you high enough of a concentration to really clean out the pumps, filters, lines & injectors (for the most part).

Seafoam is definitely much stronger than techron, but techron is still very good... Chevron gas is the best gas for that very reason and its why all benz dealerships recommend it above all others as other gas companies have been known to throw CELs sporadically.

hope that helps.

Unfortunately the "best" gas stations we have here are BP/Amoco (what I mostly use because of convenience), Shell and Mobil (use one in 5 fillups or so). Of course we also have 93 octane here that it seems some people don't get.
So maybe I'll just go grab another can of seafoam instead of the Techron.
