Does anyone know of a good source for a OEM replacement shift knob for a 2005 C230? I can find sources for replacement wood, but I'd like to match the original. It's the "not so pretty" silver interior and the knob is the "not so pretty" silver. When my wife get's home I'll try to upload a photo. I can't believe it was made so cheaply. The plastic began peeling not long after we bought it new and has just gotten to the point of no longer being acceptable. The dealership wanted $260, I'll paint it before I pay that. I'm okay with used also as long as it's in good shape.

Automatic transmission. Here's a photos. I checked formymercedes.com, I'm just not happy with an aftermarket. I'd prefer to go back with OEM, but the dealer cost is outrageous. Any other recommendations?

Any luck finding a shift knob? I am in a similar situation, the silver looks like it is bubbling and the back of the shift knob is starting to peel. Didn't expect that type of quality but it is bugging me, so I would like to change it. Not really worth a $200 fix to me but would like to keep the stock or similar smaller size knob.

That was my first thought. But then I thought about the difficulty wrapping the curved knob. Especially when I have never used the carbon wrap.

Ebay, the classifieds, and auto yards (websites), is going to be your best bet.

I would just paint it silver.. I painted some of my interior pieces in aluminum silver and it came out very nice and paint is durable.. I plan on doing the steering wheel controls and shift knob when it gets real messed up.
