P2096 Code

I got this check engine light code:

P2096 Powertrain
Post Catalyst fuel trim too lean

I only have 200 cell race cats with no secondaries and a stock resonator in place. The race cats are positioned where the stock primaries were, any idea on what this code means? Lean is the word that catches my eye....

looked that code up in Alldata and got this
---------------------------------------------------------
P2096

N3/10 (ME-SFI Control Module), Internal Fault (P0105)

Check Component N3/10 (ME-SFI Control Module)

Possible cause and remedy

Control unit N3/10 (ME-SFI control module), internal fault
Replace component N3/10 (ME-SFI control module).
Note: Read coding and transfer to the new control unit.

** End of Test **

Hey bassn_07...do you have Vadim's midsection pipe? I just received his midsection pipe with the HiFlow 200 cell cats also but haven't had the chance to install it yet.

Yep, installed and working great. I tried to get some solid results but track conditions didn't cooperate. I'll be back to the track soon to try again.

I got this code after I gutted my secondaries and installed my axel back today. It has been roughly 10 days since the modification but the CEL came on today, bassn_07, did you ever figure it out?

When I did headers and primary cat delete the car got leaner on the dyno.I never got a code but it got leaner a/f from the headers.

Try clearing it out and see if it adapts,I dont know if a regular scan tool will clear fuel trims but its worth a shot.

If the code comes back up its because you might be running to lean for the stock tuning,or to lean in general.

This cold weather wont help either since the car will lean out anyways.

Man, that is strange. All I did was gut the secondaries and installed my axel back, nothing else. Primaries are still there too. These cars come pig rich from the factory, so those two little mods caused this? That is interesting. Maybe the K&N's, scoops and cool air all contributed to the code too, who knows.

This was also pulled with the autozone scanner not a DAS, so maybe that code is generic.

Alright guys I have tracked down the reason for this code kicking from the ecu. Yesterday I was moving my car back and forth on cold starts, as I was applying my AMG decals on my painted calipers between the spokes of the rim.

I had the CEL on before I started the process, but after several cold starts and shutting down, the computer cleared the code itself. I could not believe it. At that point I started running my TORQUE app to see if the code would kick back out, low and behold it did. I had my TQ app on the fuel tables, 4 tables/sesnors for bank 1, and 4 tables/sensors for bank 2.

All 8 fuel tables remained at 0 while the car was warming up but once it reached is normal temp, bank 1 table/sensor 2 and bank 2 table/sensor 2 spiked to 80 and the CEL was thrown while all other tables/sensors read 0.

That makes sense why the car cleared the code itself earlier because it was not in open loop, but still closed or cold and therefore bank 1 sensor 2 and bank 2 sensor 2 had not spiked. Why is it doing that? My car is on the stock tune, you think that EFI control module is bad per the P2096 code suggests?

yeah I just did a tune on mine and this code came up about 3 days after I picked the car up. Be interested in knowing the outcome is.
