Squeaky steering wheel

I need help how make this squeaky sound go away. Every time I turn my steering wheel it makes this squeaky sound. Do I need to add a steering fluid?
Thanks

It wouldn't be a bad place to start.

If you're on smooth concrete, like a parking garage, it will squeal because that's the sound of the rubber on the smooth surface.

If it does it on asphalt, it's a low or tainted power steering fluid. First, check your levels. If you're topping up, a synthetic power steering fluid from an auto store is probably fine. If you need to add a lot, buy Mercedes/Fuchs fluid. If topping up doesn't work, you'll need to flush it and refill.

Is this a noise coming from the engine area or from the steering wheel itself?

Now and then, especially in the cold, I get a faint squeak out of the steering wheel, seems to be coming from where the wheel meets the column. I can't imagine how much of a pain it would be to fix, so I just ignore it.

Its coming from the inside. It gets louder when you turn the steering wheel slow. Hopefully wd40 will fix it.

I had the same problem on my E55, it is coming from the sealing boot between the firewall and the steering shaft, do not replace the boot. Simply lubricate the existing boot with the improved grease on both sealing surfaces inside and outside thefront bulkhead. Improved grease Part Number A001 989 84 51 10.
On E320 and E430 the boot should be replaced with Part Number A210 462 10 96 and be lubricated with the improved grease. That should take care of your annoying squeaky sound from your steering column.

Some members reported that adding Lubrisol to the PS fluid helped. In my case, the rack/pinion came out, a seal was replaced, buttoned back up and a front wheel alignment was done.

Factory Service Bulletins

Found this on my old computer last night. FSB for E320 and E430 on squeeky steering wheel, it might applied to E55.

this is exactly what happen to my old 99 E430 drove me bananas. This is the only way to fix it, everything else is just a band aid.

Hope all is well Peter, I'm sure you dying to take out the Porsche
