bluetooth question for ml350 2006

l would like to have a hands free solution preferably bluetooth for my new o6 ml 350 just purchased.lt is prewired but l think l need the harness etc.My question would be what phone would you recommend using verizon(l have a v6000 lg phone currently that l will upgrade to a suggested bluetooth one)l also have a v60 mercede phone that l took from a previous mercedes l owned(l would prefer just to use my current or new phone)and also what cradles, adapters would l need to accomplish this and approx price for complete install excluding phone!
Also would you recommend somebody other than mb to install the harness etc

Believe that to use the MCS and the other preinstalled stuff that you need to have the MB cradle, etc. and the MB phone. I also have an 06 and have the MB phone with the hard wired set up from MB. The phone is Bluetooth capable but I took delivery before the bluetooth kit was available. From what I understand also the MB bluetooth set up will not charge the phone. I like the way mine operates as my phone is usually plugged into the car and only removed if I go out of town.

You need the MHI completer kit installed as a base before you can do anything else. This is usually around $900 or so. Then depending on what you want to do will determine your next step. As mentioned, if you want the ability to charge your phone, then your choices become very limited, especially for Verizon, but the E815 wouild probably be a good choice.

I have the MHI completer, plus I recently purchased the Bluetooth adapter from eBay, but you can also get it from www.wireless4mb.com, an authorized reseller of the Bluetooth adapter, puck, whatever they call it. They also have a listing of phones that are totally compatible, or only partially compatible. Once again, for this scenario, the E815 would be your best bet. But, I have the LG VX8500 (the Chocolate, awesome phone BTW), and it is only partially compatible. You can make and receive phone calls, but you can not download the phone book, which is a real bummer, but not a huge problem. It works, and probably will work with most Bluetooth phones, but most will probably not be able to download the phone book. I hope they issue a firmware upgrade in the future to open make it compatible with more models.

whats a completer kit?l was under the impression they have to run a wire /cable/harness under the passenger seat and then connect into the pre wired phone conector and then from there l would need the appropriate equipment ie cradle and bluetooth adapter(correct me if l am wrong).
what is the $900.00 installation pertain to?IS THIS THE WIRING TO THE PHONE CONNECTION AND WAS THIS DONE AFTERMARKET OR THROUGH MB(sorry cap locks!)According to mb the wiring will cost me around $2800.00.
Thanks for clarifying!!

Mhi?

Ok, I'm new to MBWorld and I just got my pre-owed 2006 ML500. I'm also researching the BlueTooth options (have a Blackberry from Cingular). I don't quite understand what I need to complete this.....my gut tells me I don't have a couple things---the BT interface and the 'dock' to plug it into. Any help would be appreciated.

Believe you need to buy the entire kit from an MB dealer along with an MB phone to have the interface work completely. All else will be half assed and you will not have all the features thru the MCS. Do not believe the Blackberry is compatable with it even though its Bluetooth. See my response to the other guy a couple of posts up from this one.

Bluetooth adapter for ML350

The Dealer is checking on this for my new Cingular 3125. I opened up the inards of the arm rest and there is a plug and antenna connection inside so it looks like there is only a small harness missing to the location for the MB phone cradle and where the bluetooth puck should go. I have a suspicion the harness was removed when I bought the car. I wonder if the harness will be included with the adapter for $350.00 and I also wonder if the adapter will work with the Cingular phone. Any ideas?

bluetooth options for 06 ML-350

i have read many of your post people and i also am going thru some bluetooth issues for my car. My car did not come with pre-wired harness, however, im at the dealer now for a different issue and i brought up the BT the service guy said i need a MHI wiring harness kit, at the dealer it was $386.00 plus installation fee of $165.00. according to him all i need is the wiring kit and bluetooth module. i believe there are two bluetooth modules are available currently. DO NOT BUY FROM ANY MB DEALERSHIP OR ANY OF THEIR AFFILIATED WEBSITE. NO NEED TO BUY ANY OF THEIR PHONES, MY IPHONE 4 WILL WORK PER THE SERVICE GUY. best option is ebay since its way cheaper. this model works as good as their newest model B6 787 6131. guys, im not sure what or who is telling the truth but this is the only way and the chepest way possible. Im also up for any great advise, thank you for reading my post.

The MHI wiring kit is available on ebay for $395. I see them all the time for most models. If you were quoted $386 at the dealer then ebay is more expensive?? In addition to the wiring kit you need the BT adaptor (the part number you mentioned is for that) and that YES, it is a lot cheaper on EBAY than the dealer.

I think i screwed up, i thought since i had a telephone option on my 06 ML350 i thought all i needed was the Bluetooth Adapter B67875878 and it should be fine. But when i checked under the arm rest i did not see any place to attach the adapter. What should i do to get this to work?

I have also attached pictures of my arm rest as well as well as a picture of the cables which i thought i should plug the adapter to with no luck finding it.

The MB solution is expensive and old, and not worth the money in my opinion, I have a 2007 ML350 just purchased it as well, does not have blue tooth so I went this route, only because the dealership threw it in as part of my purchase of the vehicle

http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/plugnplaycarkits

specifically this one

http://www.parrot.com/catalog/produc...-minikit-slim/

or you can go with something like this

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/...069c638c36en02

I think I will get the Jabra, as it will go through the stereo system, and it mutes the radio automatically once you are in a call

Seriously? Then you are giving up all the integration in the car and have extra buttons and modules installed. If you bought such a great car, why would you muck it up with a patched in system like that?
Of course, it costs more money, but why not get the FULL integration that was designed into the car...steering wheel buttons, dial pad on the dash, caller id in the cluster and radio, phonebook in the car, automatic switching, etc etc. If your not going to do it the way it was intended, then just save ALL the money and wear an earpiece.

What is the cost ? for your service and option ?

Unfortunately I am not in the US, so unless it's cheap and a DIY install, then I am SOL, I asked the dealer for the integrated system and it was if I remember about 2 grand, not really the kind of money I want to spend
