Upgrading an in-dash GPS/CD/ etc. in 2001 ML55 AMG

I just bought the ML and am trying to figure out the best way (if possible) to upgrade to a new indash gps/cd/dvd etc in the 2001 ML55 AMG. I've been doing research and keep seeing that it can be done, and that it cannot be done. Can anyone help and let me know for sure if this is possible? I want nav, bluetooth, and ipod but don't think I can have all that with the old unit. The person I bought it from did not have the nav updated and it would probably cost as much as a new unit to get all the updated discs, right? thanks in advance!

i have a set of brand new 10 disc set still in the box, it is the most current that you can buy, they stoped making the cd updates in 04-05. I will sell them to you at a great price!

If you do decide to upgrade to a newer unit as I did the installation is not that difficult. Unfortunately I am not aware of any aftermarket units that will work w/ the stock CD changer, VCR, and overhead LCD. Metra makes a wiring conversion to allow using any aftermarket head unit w/ the Bose amp and speakers. There is plenty of room in the dash for a double DIN head unit. I did mine a few years back and installed a Pioneer AVIC D3 w/ a Bose sub out of an older ML320 stuck under the passenger seat. I have posted previously w/ pictures and a search of the old threads should bring it up for you. It sounds fantastic and the install required no major modification to the ML. I sold the old stuff on EBAY for $800 and it offset the bulk of the parts cost. I did the labor myself.

My ml 55.

Is it possible to use a Hi-Lo converter for my ml-55's factory unit? I would like to install the sub without changing my deck.
