Bluetooth Streaming????

Does anyone know if this is possible on the GL450? My wife just purchased an E350 and she can stream pandora over bluetooth. Any thoughts. I have a 2011 GL450 and an Iphone 4.

Just checked in the w212 forum: They are saying that there is a command update for bluetooth streaming. Does anyone know if there is a similar update for the GL?

you need a $299 accessory called Mercedes Benz Media Interface Plus. You must have the iphone cable in the glove box already.

I know that is one of the ways, but the members of the w212 forum say that the 09-10 e350's did not have bluetooth streaming capability until a recent software update which now allows native bluetooth streaming without the media interface plus. Just wanted to know if anyone here heard of, or had the update applied to their GL.

Just searched for 'media interface plus' in these forums and found this thread.
Quick question..
Before I signed on the line, my MB dealer said that 'media interface plus' came as a part of the P2 package, along with "iPod integration", etc.

Can anyone throw some light on this? My dealer has given me an IOU and said he will give me the necessary ipod cable, etc.

Just want some information from you folks if the 'media interface plus' comes with P2 for a 2011 BlueTEC.
TIA

"media interface plus" is stand alone option (actually accessory) and does not come with P2 package. Tell your dealer to educate himself before suggesting wrong info to his customers.

It is not approved by CRTC in Canada so no media interface plus for Canada due to streaming Pandora.
I talk to my dealer yesterday about it.
I would like to know how it works.
If I would order from USA would it work here up north?
Thanks for the info.
I don't use pandora but would like to have the features to read SMS and stream my music from itunes via my car audio without wires.

Yup, that is what I told him and even showed him that page when we were discussing... he said that the page shows all the other things as well, e.g. ipod integration kit, etc that comes with P2.

So, he said that the 'media interface plus' also will be included.

Now, I am worried that he will not honor what he said.

I guess I should throw a fit when he says that, huh?

This is very easy to check if your car has P2. Just plug in your IPod and try to see VIDEOs. Actually I'll try tonight when I get home.
I just looked at MB website and this is what you need to see on your COMAND when you have it :

http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...ts/accessories

My car has P2 and I didn't see that screen yet.

I have an '11 E550 and an '11 GL350. The E's command system is more advanced in many ways - but similar.

Besides buying the media interface for $300 retail, it doesn't appear that a software upgrade will add bluetooth audio to the GL.

Or just get an ANystream for $69 from our site and plug it into the iPod cable. Then you have bluetooth streaming from any bluetooth device.

So....just plug in the anystream to the end of the factory ipod accessory kit? Will it still show the iphone/ipod info in the instrument panel?

Many cars and devices will. Depends on firmware in the car or device if it can read Bluetooth metadata. Unfortunately there is no way to know if your song info will show up in the radio or not until you plug it in. Most Mercedes do, but some do not.

You will love it!!! When my engineering guy came to me with a sample, I demanded 3 more for other cars. It is like a microwave for me, once you have one you are not sure how to live without it. It is VERY convenient!

Where do you find it for $69? It shows 79 on the web. I'll be interested in one too.

Hello,

I ordered 2 anystream bluetooth units, 1 for a 2007 mercedes GL450 and another for an older 2000 Mercedes e320.

I received both units rather quickly from cartronics and have tested it on the vehicles. The connection is simple as promised, just plug it into the ipod cable end coming out of the glove box and connect with the phone via passcode. My 4G iphone connected right away with no issues. However, on the GL450, I can stream the music but cannot use the steering wheel function to switch music and no song information shows in the instrument panel. Song selection and control has to be operated from the iphone/ipod unit. I'm a little disappointed but still find the streaming convenient enough to keep it.

Cartronics responded to my PM with above information very quickly. He said although song info/steering wheel control works on most MBZ, unfortunately, my GL cannot show the info. For what it's worth, I have a late build gl450 (4/2007). Some of you with newer models may have better luck than me.

On the e-class, i plugged the anystream to the ipod connector coming out of the glovebox aux input. It does not appear to power up at all. Cartronics responded that I "have a very old interface that also does not charge the device (power on wrong wires) and would also need our Pass n Charge unit to make it work in the older car." The Pass N Charge is $39 +$ 13 shipping on the website, I'm probably going to pass on this one because I'm not too confident it's going to work.

Hope this review helps you guys.

The Pass N Charge would only be required for Pre 2002 Mercedes Benz

Refresh your browser. Today is June 6, 2011 and we generally don't quote prices online, as supplies, features and prices change, and this post will be here a long time. It will be at this current sale price for only a few days, as demand has far outpaced production for the next few weeks. Please check the site for current prices, and always refresh your browser page to make sure you are not looking at a cached page view.

To clarify NSX78 response - the Anystream does not display song information on ANY installation (automotive or home). The whole point of the Anystream is to wirelessly stream music in digital quality, and to control it from the music device and software (app) you are sending from (ie: Android, Pandora, Sirius, iPod, etc). If your music device (ipod) and car or speaker system support the industry standard AVCRP profile, you can do track forward, back, play, pause as well using the buttons built into the car or speaker system (ie steering wheel controls).
The track info will be displayed on the music device itself, not on the car display or any applicable homedock display.
