C 63 Black series Press Release
I just returned from an AMG tour in Affalterbach . It was amazing ( ill put up some pics tomorrow ). There was a C 63 black there ( under cover unfortunately ) . When I asked if it was as hard core as the clk black all I got was " we do not go backward at AMG " and a wry smile ...
I think theres another hooligan coming . The track and aero packs are interesting . Apparently featuring carbon GT3 rs 4.0 style " flicks " at the front and a fixed adjustable wing at the rear . they CANNOT be specced with rear seats as apparently with the added downforce it exceeds the allowed weight on rear axle (!) . Oh and pistons conrods and cooling are from the sls .

The air intakes in the distinctive front valance direct a continuous air flow through the large cooling modules, while two openings in the aluminum hood aid the outflow of heat from the engine. The angled struts in the front skirt emphasize the vehicle's width and the black front splitter beneath provides aerodynamic balance.

Mighty 255/35 R 19 and 285/30 R 19 wheels grace the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series at market launch. Mounted on 9 x 19 (front) and 9.5 x 19 (rear) AMG alloys, the wheel/tire combination fills out the fenders to stunning effect and has a significant impact on the dynamic appearance of this new AMG sports car.
Painted in titanium gray, the polished alloy wheels are made using extremely lightweight forging technology – as on the SLS AMG. Compared with conventional wheels, these forged wheels are a total of 24.2 pounds lighter overall. The lower weight results in reduced unsprung masses, which improves both suspension characteristics and steering precision.
Broad rear end with diffuser insert
The rear of the Black Series coupe also underlines its performance potential. The new rear valance with its distinctive black diffuser insert creates visual breadth. Similar to the SLS AMG GT3, it extends beyond the profile of the rear valance. The black mesh on the upper edge of the diffuser insert is just as much of an eye- catcher as the AMG sports exhaust. A displacement of 6.3 liters, a maximum output of 510 hp and torque of 457 lb-ft from eight cylinders – one glance at the technical data and it's clear that the technology behind the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series is every bit a match for its sensational appearance. The high-torque M156 naturally aspirated engine was fine-tuned specifically for the new two-door model. Its forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft all come directly from the SLS AMG and are complemented by a new engine control unit. As a result, the sprint from 0 to 60 mph takes just 4.2 seconds (all data preliminary).

In conjunction with modified anti-roll bars, the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series delivers impressive dynamics, tenacious grip and minimal body roll. The AMG speed-sensitive sports steering facilitates superb vehicle control, with modified mapping of the power assistance for maximum steering precision.
The AMG rear-axle differential lock is standard equipment and responsible for reliable traction, especially under race track conditions. The 3-phase ESP® is the ideal solution for all driving situations - using the ESP® button, the driver can choose from "ESP ON", "Sport Handling Mode" and "ESP OFF". As a result of the increased dynamics the AMG high-performance brake system and the anti-lock functionality was reprogrammed. The larger braking system features discs with race-proven composite (two-piece) technology at the front (15.35 x 1.42 inches) and integral discs at the rear (14.17 x 1.02 inches). Looking forward to the pictures. Would love a tour of AMG. That said, even if the C63 wasn't as hardcore they wouldn't say so would they? 
Trying to sell every one they can. Despite that, I'm sure it will be fun to drive. Won't be getting rid of my CLK black, still like the look of it better. And since Mercedes has been doing an almost 1:1 euro to US price offering we're looking at $115-120k US. (CLS63 is 97k euro and 97k US, the SLS at 177k euro and 183k US). Wondering what the track and aero packages will add price wise.

This car is going to be a monster! Interested to see how it will stack up against some of the tuned C63 sedans pushing well over 510HP!

its probably identical perfromance to a clk63, same engine, same power, same everything right

Nice, but not interested. Just another C-class of which there are many, at least in the VA, DC, MD area. Look on eBay or Carmax and you'll also see a lot of C63's for sale. I wonder why? I'm personally losing interest in MB and AMG and have begun looking at Ferrari's, Maserati's and Porsche 997 TT's. JMO.

Nice info as this gives existing BS owners some hope on replacement tires since the Pirelli's are going away. Interesting to see if the Dunlops will be R compound.

Im going to try Supersports next . They work great on the Carrera GT but not the best for track work Im afraid . Ill keep you posted , b

I suppose its horses for courses . I enjoy my P cars a great deal on track , theres just something about the heritage and hooliganism of AMG that has always appealed to the 4 year old in me .
Of course very few things are as sideways as a good AMG

They are a different breed to Porsches ( which are different again to Ferrari and Maserati ) .

Yes, thanks. Just pointing out that Merc designs are becoming a little boring and in some cases bloated e.g. the S550/S65/63. There are a lot of Mercs in my area and they are no longer unique nor do they stand out from the other sheep in the daily driver herd. I'm not looking for street recognition and I do prefer to blend in until its time to really spank a wanna be or poser but, a Porsche, Maserati or Ferrari will still turn heads whereas a Merc AMG won't.

AMG ? PORSCHE trip
A friend and I have just spent a few thousand km,s blatting around europe . We picked up his 4.0 rs ( best 911 ever built imnsho ) .
We had a porsche factory tour ( SLS was err a strange thing in the Porsche grounds ) .
After that we went to AMG and HWA ( where we were given another tour ) . Fantastic trip , highly recommended. I was amazed at how bespoke the AMG facilities were . There were a couple of c blacks but they were covered . I spoke to AMG and HWA about possible CLK Black series mods , ill keep you all posted on results ( if any ) .

sls was almost not let in ...
