I spoke to Need For Speed in Glendale, CA about doing this to my 07 w216 as well. They said they would definitely be able to do it, they would be able to supply the OEM lights as well. I just dont know the pricing yet.

I order all this parts with the part number mention above, but it doesn't fit my 07 CL550 with AMGEN bumper.

Looks like the grill cover is way too big. Wonder if I need to change the bumper as well ?

I have an 09 cl550 and would love to see this happen.

On a separate note does anyone know if 2011 Headlights will fit a 2009 CL550? I remember when I owned an 07 Range Rover and every dealer, Maitnence guy everyone told me the new 2010 LED rear tai lights wouldn't fit and work and I bought them anyway and they fit and worked perfect so I want someone to answer that actually knows for a fact whether it will or not.

Thanks and Happy TG!!!

2007 CL 550

Hello, I also have a 2007 cl 550 w/ amg bumper.
Has anyone tried this retrofit??

I may order the parts from Mercedes and then give it a try.
i looked at the bumpers side by side and they seem to have different mesh opening for the fog lights and led daytime running strips

There seem to be more car enthusiasts and more feedback on the W215 section. Not much is going on here. It could be as well that majority of W216 owners drive their cars stock and would not bother converting their oval fog-lamps to full LED strips. Anyway, this is what I think because this post was created a long time ago and the conversion idea doesn't seem to solicit much interest.

Hey Malcolm. Nice to see you on here. Oh, nice to see you are anticipating this project. Keep us posted. The W216 with the full LED foglight conversion will look sick.

I may add them and keep the fog lamps, to do it correctly it should have new headlamps, rather than spend that much I may just wait a bit and change the car, did you sort out that chrome trip under you rear bumper.

It makes sense that way Malcolm to buy a later model CL with the LED fog-lamps. If not, the conversion will involve alot financially. A good job as you say will entail fitting new headlamps and the CL bi-xenon headlamps, I suppose your CL came fitted with one will cost an arm and a leg. If you decide to keep your oval fog-lights and still add the LED strips, I am afraid on a car like the CL, it may look a bit tacky. I will rather you do the job properly or you buy the newer model of CL at a later date.

It's a tough car. on my previous 08 S550, the 2012 front bumper with the oem LED lights and grilles bolts right on but with the CL, you have totally different headlights and fenders so it makes it impossible.

Cars
Guys, let me tell you. The only way to do it right is to actually change the entire front clip. Fenders, headlamps, bumper and hood. You can not retrofit the round for the LED strips. They cars are totally different. You can possibly buy some lower grille material and remove the old round lamps and possibly get an aftermarket straight LED light and fit it into place but to get an 07-10 to have the beauty of the 11-14, isn't going to happen. Someone was able to retro fit their S Class sedan but the only change they had to do to change their 10 to look like the 11 was the bumper skin. He changed the skin and all the lamps came with ( he found it on Ebay). I think it cost him about 1K installed and he didn't have to paint the bumper because it was the same color as his car. I did notice that the very first post had a very nice conversion kit available and for what it is worth I think it looks amazing. More in tune with the times and makes the car look much better. This would be the option I would go with if I had the older version with the round fog lamps.
