Service reminder

Okay, just changed the oil and filter today, what a snap compared to my others

So, the manual quotes the maintenance manual, which quotes the service manual

So please how in the heck do you reset the service interval on a 09

And if some one says use search, I swear I WILL COME AND VISIT YOU

It must have taken me at least 10 seconds to find this for you. I guess I am an enabler, at least for today.

i have a tiny one. but comes handy at the right times.

sense of humor that is

btw, if you did service c or higher you should not be resetting the service indicator as no service c is possible at home unless you have sds. replacing the air filters requires explicitly resetting them via sds (maf adaptations in the engine mgmt module) so next service c is properly calculated.

Not sure what your smokin my friend. But the air filters were a snap, and NO Star required. I can assure you she has NO CEL, and my tech just laughed about it

PS: K/N's were put in for ****s and giggles

Would you like a screenshot of the appropriate sds screen containing the "reset when replacing air filters" wording?

Not resetting it would not result in codes. But will mess up the air filter usage calculation which will mess up the calculation of future proper service as well as ignore the added air flow provided by the new filters.

Not arguing with you buddy, just saying what Bobby Rahal told me as they know I do most of my own services.

As far as the engine not knowing its getting more air, BS.

There are too many sensors that would adjust for the proper mixture.

A far as the service indicator, it is a simple clock/mileage. It will will go off again in 10k miles.

Have fun

Wrong wrong wrong. Sure, it is fixed in 10k increments, but next time it will go off for the wrong service...adaptations are not reset when the service indicator is reset. Consequently measurement of air filters deterioration is skewed and inaccurate.

On the more air subject- adaptations are based on deltas to baselines. Resetting the air flow adaptations forces a chain of trimming events that will not take place otherwise and will not have the same positive effEct on performance and economy if you let it learn on itself. If reserting those adaptstions was not needed it would not have been included in sds and specifically noted that they need to be reset when certain services are executed- one of them being replacing he air filters.

Actually, I would like to see it, as Bobby Rahal MB is saying your dead wrong, to the point of saying that they have NEVER used their sds for a simple air filter change on ANY gasoline powered vehicle.

Just saying, some one has to be wrong. Might just learn something new today

err. for some reason i thought you had a cdi.

your service advisor saying "gasoline engines" was my clue, but i had to check.

the "reset air filter" function is in the cdi4 module which is presented only on the diesel gls.

but... you still have no sense of humor

It NEVER was about winning

It was only a simple fact of yes or no.

Guys, lighten up

And you say I don't have a sense of humor

Geez, you must hang around the C63 section alot

In either case, have fun!!
