A quick search on the forum would have given you the location - and a replacement procedure (DIY): https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...in-filter.html

Good luck.

Since I've driven cars with A/C for nearly 50 years without Cabin Air Filters what's the harm in taking this one out when dirty and not replacing it?

Interesting, there is an ad for Infiniti just below this thread.

ive pulled some cabin filters at 15k on various cars and the filter is black with all kinds of stuff trapped onto it. im pretty sure you dont want that stuff to go staight into the cabin and into your lungs, also helps keep the interior more tidy as it traps dust while in use.

You should also remove the filter from your home HVAC system.

But seriously...Are you sure? We have had cabin filters since 1999. I am pretty sure that they appeared before 1999. They are not expensive and do some good.

If you do decide to remove it (as I have done temporarily to try to eliminate the musty smell) you should cover the opening into which the filter is inserted. Otherwise the air will not circulate properly.

To do this I removed the charcoal/paper portion of the filter from the plastic end/cover and used this. The musty smell did disappear, so I suspect that the filter itself was the source of the musty smell. Now that the smell is gone, I'll see if it re-appears next summer with heavy A/C use here in the high desert (above 110 regularly in July and August.)
