Can you let us know, for those of us who are interested, are these headers a direct bolt on or do we need to do modifications to the downpipe or welding to get them on. I live in CT hence how much is shipping to 06479. Thanks.

Also, can you post some pictures of the headers for us to see.

Picture attached of the full W210 header kit. Like all KLEEMANN headers for the M113 engine, cutting and welding is required, and the headers omit the primary catalyst. As always, we'll include ECU coding which will eliminate the MIL for catalyst and will also force-set readiness monitors, however, this only works on cars with ME2.8- cars using ME2.0 (usually 1999-2000 and some early 2001 production), the secondary O2 sensors must be relocated behind the secondary catalyst, or the readiness monitors must be disabled via ECU programming (which means you'll fail OBDII tests).

I have a 2002 and when I install the x-pipe, I didnot see any O2 sensors on the 2nd cats. Is it better to delete the two 2nd cats when installing the headers. I don't have any problem with OBDII.

I'm not sure I even suggested there were O2 sensors in, around or after the secondary cats. What I'm saying is, IF your car has ME2.0 and you're installing our headers, the only way to eliminate getting a MIL for the removal of the primary cat (it's not possible to use the factory cat when installing our headers) is to either re-locate the secondary O2 sensors behind the factory secondary catalyst (they originally reside after the primary cats), or have the readiness monitors disabled via an ECU tune.

I can almost definitively say no, and it's not got much to do with the ECU. Removing the primary catalysts means your asking the secondaries to do more which means you'll likely still have high CO and NoX readings, you'll very likely fail the visual inspection (it's my understanding that some stations do it, while others don't), and if they see headers on the car, they'll want a CARB EO number, which our headers do not have. I say almost definitively because I have heard of people passing without any issue, so it's somewhat dependent on the specific inspection station you go to.

As Cory mentioned, some stations know what to look for, others don't. I do not know if these cars will pass smog with only the primaries (I suspect they will and I will find out in a few months).

There is no reason one can not cleverly relocate the stock primary cats before the resonator or x-pipe. They are metallic and flow well. The secondaries and manifolds are the primary restrictions in the W210 E55's. I imagine that if I were to do this, I might need to extend the O2 sensor wires back a little further.

This is a very good deal. There is definite engineering in the Kleeman headers as evidenced by the right side header alternating cylinders for initial collection.

Cory,

If I wanted to go with your headers setup but also install four new cats (cut the lower pipe sections), would ECU reprogramming be required?

My idea is to go with four metallic cats (two on each side) as in the stock layout.

If you are already running no cats, these headers should make no difference "CEL"-wise. If you do this, do a dyno run before and after!

Just curious..if you delete your primary cats, didn't you get a CEL on your dash? Unless you have your ecu tune you will get a CEL. How did you go around that? I'm curious to know. Also, with straight downpipes, what ever happen to the O2 sensors...you just delete them?

actually, i bought the car as is, sence it was loud i checked what it had and thats when i found out it had straight pipes, as far as the o2 sensors they seem to be in the same spot, what i do have is a check engine light always on, ive gotten it checked and all they tell me is since i dont have cats itll stay on but doesnt affect it in anyway. so to sum it up i guess i can put the headers with no worries

If you buy the kleemann headers, you can call Cory, and mail your ECU to him. He will tune your ecu to by pass the sensors and your CEL light will not come on anymore Its something they have to do as the kleemann headers are long tubes hence your primary cats have to be deleted.

If you buy the headers from Kleemann, Cory will delete the CEL light via the ecu for free. He told me that on the phone. You just have to sent in your ecu....probably take a few days round trip.
