I was at the track that night, I spoke with the driver and he said the trunk lid was in Germany and the reason why he only ran a low 10 on his first pass was that he was worried about the aerodynamics with out the lid. The lid is carbon fiber and doesn't weigh much. As a matter of fact the car probably would have been faster then the 9.7 it went later that night because the aerodynamic are suffering dramatically without it.
