Tires
All,
I searched under "best tires for clk" and the topics are very broad and most not related. I have my winter wheels and tires on my 2001 CLK now for the New York winter. I just bought some replica 17" AMG's staggared (gunmetal grey from usarim) and want to know the best tires for the spring and summer. I would rather not get all season but they must be good in the summer rain storms. I am thinking Michelin Pilot Sports becuase of things I have read here. Ant other suggestions would help!

I am liking the Sumitomo HTR ZIII so far, great bang for the buck. They are also asymmetric(can rotate side-side).Do a search on google for them and you will find reviews galore on other manufacturer forums, all saying the same thing....great deal. If money is of no concern, I would say Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 (or the new Super Sports), the PS2s are usually a benchmark for most tire comparisons in car magazines etc...

I think PSS or PS2 on a 320 that's 11 years old is way overkill.
Hankook V12 Evo will probably be the best bet; lot of people say Nitto NT555 as their first alternative to Michelins but I have Invos right now and they're hard as *****, have way too much road force and the shoulders are square and the sidewalls are thicker than other brands in the same size. I'd stay away from Nitto.
Also been hearing a lot about the Sumitomos mentioned above.

Thanks everybody. The reviews I read last night favor the Michelin PS2's or the Super Sport. The reviews for the Hankook's are great for early milage. After reading tons of reviews it seems that most of the less expensive alternatives are great with low milage but end up noisy the second half of their life. The reason I would not mind spending a little more is that although the car is a 2001, it was stored in my aunts garage for nine years and is mint with 26,000 miles. Will keep looking until winter ends!
