I've just found a set of 17 x 8 E350 wheels with a 48mm offset. They have new 245R45's on them. Wheels are in perfect - right off a new car that had new AMG's fitted. Can I use these on my '99 CLK? It has the stock 16 x 7 wheels with 37mm offset. Will I need to put spacers on. Also, the wheel studs from the E350 are about 3/8" shorter than the stock wheel studs. Will they need to be changed?

offset on a clk is 35mm. the lower number the offset the further out you go so 48 moves the wheel/rim further in 13mm more than oem which "may" cause the tire and rim to bind in a tight full lock turn. ask your question online to the tirerack.com or a similiar retailer. I have 225/45/17 on 8" rims w/32mm offset with no problems. I think they are not a good fit.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like if I want to use these wheels, I need to add about 15mm of spacer and maybe go down a tyre size to 225R45.

I just put on 19x10 et40 rims in the rear. I needed a 10mm spacer to prevent rubbing. I'm running 19x8.5 et35 with no problems up front.

Thanks. I'm going to go with 10mm spacers. I'll see how they work with the 245R45-17's. I suspect I may need to go down to 235R45-17's or even 225R45-17's.
