I am hard wiring a 9500ix Race Edition with the remote, so I cant wire from the glove box as I need the remote by my left hand/knee. I am looking to tap a wire in the bundle found to the left of the steering wheel behind the pop out "secret compartment". Does anyone know which wire would be the one to tap into? I am looking for a wire that is only on when the car is on so I don't have to manually cycle the detector. Beyond that I can figure out the rest of the install. Im sure a ground point wont be hard to find back there.

and remote? the small little box that connects to the power with the mute button? Honestly no need for that just make sure to mount your radar on top of your mirror when it goes off and annoys you click mute on the radar. Or go to settings and make initial beep to not be louder than normal.

No sure if my keyless go is the same but I tapped into one of the extra outlets in the secret compartment. I put an in-line fuse for good measure.

Gah I have no fuse box there! Anyone have a non keyless go or US model w204? I really dont wana go buy a voltmeter...plus i have no idea how to work one.

You can push a wire through the wire run under the dash on the left side into the front fuse box where there are some unused connection positions. See my prior post on this with pictures.

Thanks RLE yours was the only DIY on the internet that I didn't run into! I am having difficulty removing the a-pillar trim. Any tips on how to remove it? It seems most people snap a clip and I don't want to.

So I wired it exactly as you did RLE, however I had to use an "add a fuse" connector as Pep Boys didn't have any fuse taps. Issue being it doesn't turn on...

I triple checked and re did all my connections, so I assume this "add a fuse" fure plug does not work for this application. Any chain stores cary fuse taps? Radio shack only has them online and pep boys was a bust.

You could be tapping into a receptacle that does not get power. Try other ones. Or you may have had the ingition turned off. Or the fuse you installed in the add-a-fuse is blown.
The add-a-fuse is used to add a another circuit by piggy backing an existing one. Remove the fuse from an existing circuit, install it in the first slot in the add-a-fuse and use the second fuse slot for your detector. I've used this method on several different cars and never had a no-power problem.
Also no circuit works unless it is grounded.

I tried many different metal parts of the car for grounds. I ended up using the same one as RLE as changing the ground point still did not make it work. The way I was using the add a fuse was I wired the detector power wire to the "circuit extension" and replaced the car's fuse in one of the add a fuse slots, and then plugged it in. Was this the wrong way to use it? I tried multiple fuse outlets both occupied and unoccupied. I feel like I just need a traditional fuse tap. I wish I could use a wire tap but I don't have a multimeter or know how to use one.

check the other thread I posted a reply for u there. U need 2 fuses in the add a fuse, one for each circuit, hence the 2 slots. The wire that comes outta the add a fuse is the fuse side its on, so use a lower powered one like 5amps or less. The factory fuse goes in the other side. In the under hood spot jump the 30amp spot which is the wipers, i use it for stuff like this. The other thing i posted is maybe ur detector isnt 12v, 90% of automotive stuff is less like 5 or 7 volts, the kickdown happens in the 12v plug receptacle. U cant just simply cut it off and plug it in to 12v if its less than 12v, u need a pigtailed cigarette adapter and u wire that hardwire and plub the radar into that and hide it, otherwise u need to use resistors and if you cant use a multimeter u wont figure that out its a tuff thing to do
