My Buttonwillow Track Day
I spent last Saturday at Buttonwillow Raceway. Logged over 100 miles on the track and the AMG did not disappoint!
I haven’t processed all my pictures/videos, but here is a taste:
Good thing gas is so cheap

Nice! I've been itching to do a track day myself but haven't had the time yet to get to a track? I have to ask this: how chipped up did your car get if at all? I noticed you didn't tape up the front end.

Great pictures and videos!! I always like to see other C55 owners enjoying the capabilities of their cars on a proper track.
I just have one comment. I don't know whether it's the camera distorting things or not, but it seems from the interior video that you are sitting quite far back, in that your arms seem more out-stretched than what I've been taught to do for track duty. I've always been told to adjust seat position/steering wheel position to make sure my wrist can touch the top of the steering wheel when your shoulder blade is flush against the back of the seat.
Also, your car looks absolutely fantastic with that shiny black paint.......I'm thinking of switching back to the stock grille this summer.

good stuff man, it's always good to see how reliable these cars can be too.
all you need to do is black out your grille and we'd have the exact same car. i have a tune, 5.5 side badges, black side markers, windows tinted and flat badge as well.

Thanks for the comments everyone
Good point, must be the angle from the Go Pro. I had to recline the back of the seat slightly more than I would have liked, due to the helmet, but my wrists were just beyond the steering wheel.
I didn’t notice any additional damage to the front of the car after the event. Guess I got a bit lucky. The track was in perfect condition and there was typically only 16 cars on the ~3mile track at any given time, so I never seemed to be following anyone for too long

Buttomwillow is my favorite Socal track. Glad to see you are getting better gas mileage than me, the C32 only gets 6.x MPG and I usually run some 100LL to be safe which gets expensive.
What organization did you run with?

Zeppelin: It was just an open track day, so there was a nice mix of cars. Ended up being about 35 cars total, so that led to plenty of wide open track time.
BenzoBoi: Who did you do Chuckwalla with? I can honostly say i didnt even know about that track, haha!

I went through Star Car Sports track events. Went with my usual homies/track buddies + a few new additions. A FUN track. You should check it out sometime! The track is fairly new so I'm not surprised that lots of people don't know too much about it. They will in the future. You can only run Billow Willow, Streets, and Buttonwillow so many times before looking for other tracks too.
