2001 CL55 0-60

I've been looking up times people have achieved and the lowest I've seen was 0-60 in 5.5s really couldn't find many 0-60 times, only for the supercharged versions. The 2007 SL550 has the same engine but supposedly makes 382HP, and magazines claim to have achieved 0-60 4.9s is it possible my CL55 could achieve low 0-60 in low 5's in the manual shift mode? after all it is 300lbs and or so lighter than the 2007 SL550 and only 20 less HP

I've found out that the 01 cl600 can achieve 5.3s and the 01 cl55 has the same torque and hp and weighs less, so I'm assuming my cl55 can also achieve 5.3s or better?

Make sense since W210 E55 has the same engine weight less runs 5.4

Yeah but the CL600 is rated 5.8s on wiki as well, but articles claimed that it has achieved 5.3s and the CL55 (2001) is basically the same car and (The 2007 SL550 has the same engine but supposedly makes 382HP, and magazines claim to have achieved 0-60 4.9s) My CL55 has only 20 less HP and weighs less (than the 07 SL550), so it's logical that my CL55 can achieve low 5's 0-60

2001 Mercedes CL600 0-60 mph 5.6 (curb weight) 4400lbs Quarter mile 14.2 ( http://www.zeroto60times.com/Mercede...mph-Times.html )

CL 55 AMG (curb weight) 4000lbs
(2001) 5.5 L V8 265 kW (360 PS; 355 hp) 530 N·m (391 lb·ft) 5.8 seconds
CL 600
(2000) 5.5 L V12 270 kW (367 PS; 362 hp) 530 N·m (391 lb·ft) 5.8 seconds

The SL550's 7 speed is much more advanced, shifts quicker, and has more gears than the 5 speed transmission in your car. The engine also produces 30+ HP more than your CL but the transmission and gearing make the biggest difference in performance.

As you can see by the actual results of drag strip runs is that the SL550 is considerably quicker than the 2001 CL55 and the CL55 runs the times that are published. http://www.dragtimes.com/compare2.ph...ame=Compare%21

I think 5.8s is a stretch, I don't think the manual mode was tested with that 0-60 time. Manual mode can deduct .5s I highly doubt that SL550 is over a second faster because of a faster transmission, the CL55 shifts almost instantaneously in the manual mode.

Interesting, as I would have like to have known what my 02 cl55 would have run. I never took it down the 1/4 but I'm guessing 14.0-14.5

I looked at the video multiple times and each one I timed was a tick over 5.5 seconds but, then again, you had a slight rolling start when you mashed the pedal. With the rolling start, I'd say 6 seconds to 60 is about right if you were at a complete stop. Try it again but have the central display on the digital speedo so we can see when you get to 60 rather than the speedo needle. Better yet, take it to a drag strip and see what it will do.

In actuality, it should be slower in manual mode vs automatic. Yes, the transmission makes a huge difference due to gearing and shift speed. Look at the dragtimes I posted. That's a huge difference in acceleration.

Yes, that's where the performance stats and dragtimes run puts it at.

I was basically at a complete stop, and I've read cars at a complete stop achieve a better 0-60 time than from a rolling start, look it up. The needle was clearly at 0 when I gunned it anyways, and the engine wasn't even warmed up, and the roads were wet. I'm sick of your **** BlownV8, its clear that my car can easily achieve sub 5.5s 0-60 times, and I proved it with that video.

I did not see proof of a sub 5.5 second run. It was a little over 5.5 but it was from a roll. Do another from a dead stop with the digital speedo in the cluster and repost the video. I will believe you then.

Why are you so determined to prove whatever you are trying to prove? Go race a SL550 if you think you can hang. Better yet, go to a drag strip and post something that we can certify as accurate.

Correction:

Your CL55 has a M113 5.4L SOHC AMG V8
The SL550 has a M273 5.5L DOHC non-AMG V8 with variable valve timing.

My 0-60 is 3.7 secs. Check sig for video if you don't believe me. I'm looking at a CL65 for my next beast so lurking here a bit.
