c43 driving lights
Has anyone switched out the clear driving lights (parking lights) for yellow (amber) fog lights. I had the amber on my E400 from the factory and they were outstanding in rain or fog. I thing the US Transportation authority nixed them. Unfortunate.

They didn't nix the amber corners. MB just went with the amber reflector only (to modernize the look). Switching them is easy if that's what you're getting to.

C43 Driving Lights
Sorry for the confusion, I am referring to the 'Fog Lights" The clear lens/bulbs in the factory fog lights are worthless for driving in rain or fog. I would like to change them to amber. Any sources?

Someone must agree with me that amber driving/fog lights are superior to clear lens/bulbs for rain or fog. Have had no replies or sources for amber lens/bulbs.'

I haven't seen any lenses anyway in amber. I know you could get some Lamin-X covering in yellow, but I don't know how much that would actually change the light output. I have done yellow fogs in both my 202s. Both with bulbs. I just got a 3000k HID kit. The ones I have are actually a little too green, but it's not that bad. I think the bulb is the easiest way to go. You can get yellow PIAAs online.

Amber driving lights and spots where mandatory in France many decades ago. Certain other European countries allowed this color too. This obligation however disappeared some time back, even if you get to see the occasional vehicle with amber lights driving around. In this case they are very old cars.
I drove an Alpine A110 in the 70's with amber lights, and the amber was less tiring for the eyes at night time. Wearing yellow tinted glasses at night time or in fog helps so it seems.
