OEM Winter package Rims tire size help!
Hey guys
I am about to buy some c63 rims off, c63 is absolutely my dream car but I am still in school and money is very tight. Hopefully one day i'll be able to get one!
Anyway the rims I am buying off is the winter package which is non-staggered setup. All 4 wheels are 18x8'. My car is a c300, I am wondering what size of tires I should get? I have read some post I should get 225/40/18 for front, can I get the same for the back since the width is the same?
Thanks a lot in advance, really appreciate it, and if you guys can recommend me some good and reasonably priced tires that would be awesome as well!

Yes, you can go 225/40/18 all around no problem on your C300.. but I'm sure you can even spice up your car a bit by going staggered tires... like 225/40/18 front & 245/35/18 rear (or even 255/35/18 like our stock C63). This will give you more grip in the rear.
As for tires selection, since you are on a limited budget... I'd recommend Hankook Evo V12, I just bought a set for my new HRE wheels & I'm so impressed with how well they grip... plus they have 280 treadwear, so they should last a bit longer. To give you an idea, my set of 245/35/19f & 275/30/19r cost me less than 1000$ before shipping.

P.S I also have a set of General UHP, they are inexpensive tires as well, but harder compound. (more noisy)

I will check those tires this week, I might just get 225/40/18 all around so I can rotate the tires when the rear wear down. Or it doesn't matter because I have a 4matic, the wear should be evenly distributed?

thanks man gota go cheapie or else ill never be able to afford a c63 haha
anyway i got a question...for 4matic does it mean all tires wear out pretty much the same rate? if so, ill rather get the 245 or 255 in the rear for more traction

It's all good, we all been there trying to save & work hard for our dream cars or dream mods.
As from my experience on tire wear on a all-wheel-drive car (I had a Stealth Twin Turbo for 15years, so I've been through lots of tires with it... lol). The thread wear was actually pretty even from front to rear. My car was dropped low though & no alignment would bring it back to spec, so I had bad inner camber wear.

Since u have 18x8 all around, ur rear 255/35/18 will bulge out more compared to ur 225/40/18 for sure. The best wheel size for 255 tire would be 18x9 like the C63 OEM rear wheel.
It's really up to u to go for look vs performance vs practicality.

Here try this.. U have to enter ur current OEM size.. Then enter ur new wheel/ tire combo.. It will tell u how many mm different from ur OEM.. Stick with the combo which is closest to ur OEM to avoid rubbing or speedo error. Good luck my friend!

You can go with 225's all the way around. I had that setup on my OEM 17" wheels for winter on my C350 4MATIC. No issues, treadwear was fine all the way around. The thing about winter tires, the additional width will not help you in the snow. I'd go with the 225's unless there is a substantial cost savings with the 245 being a common size. Michelin X-Ice are great in the winter, but I opted for a Chinese brand called Wanli and they proved to be a very capable tire. No issues in snow or ice, their design and compound are very similar to Pirelli's.

I think OP bought a C63 winter set, but is planning to use them as summer set on his C300. Now that I'm thinking, can u even go staggered on a 4matic?

Yes I bought a winter set with winter tires nonstaggered, I am going to buy summer tires for them. Also, thats was what I was thinking with 4matic you can't go staggered but apparantly not after some research when i first got the car. It is staggered out of the factory for 4matic as well.
So i guess I will go 225 and 245 then?

Good to hear about 4matic can do staggered. I guess as long as you keep the same overall diameter all around, you should be fine.

i just spoke to someone knowledgable and he recommended me to get these 235/40/18 all around because it is 18x8 at the back rather than 18x8.5
is that good too?
