Something strange happened tonight.
About a second or two after I lost throttle response, it came right back and I put the car in C mode and started nanny driving. I cycled through C,S,M and played with the paddles at every mode - they worked perfectly. The transmission shifted smoothly the rest of the way home. There were no icons lit up on my instrument cluster, no service messages or anything else that popped up.
Once I arrived home, I shut the car off and immediately heard what appeared to be the auxiliary fan (which i believe cools off the tranny?) The engine oil temp gauge still read --- but this time, the yellow engine oil icon lit up on my dash.
I shut the car back off and the auxiliary fan was still running. After about 2 minutes, it shut off. i turned the car back on for a third time, still no engine oil temp reading, the engine oil icon was lit up and the auxiliary fan turned back on.
I'm at a loss as to what happened...this doesn't sound like the dead throttle issue that's been discussed at length on this forum before. It was also pretty cool outside (70F) so I don't see how the car could have overheated after 10 minutes of spirited driving on a cool spring night.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? I wonder if it's just a bad oil temp sensor that went dead causing the car to go into an immediate temporary limp mode.
I'm going to see what happens when I start the car up in the morning but any thoughts or input anyone can share would be appreciated. This is pretty disconcerting as I'm not afraid to get on my car...considering this happened under such tame conditions, I wouldn't want to risk this happening at the track or drag strip at triple digit speeds.
I've attached two pics below of the instrument cluster; the first is immediately after throttle came back which is at 2:05am. The second was taken at 2:10am after I got home and restarted the car (you'll see the yellow engine oil icon now lit.)

The fan that was running is for the Auxiliary Oil Cooler for the engine oil and not the transmission cooler. Your sudden transmission shifts may have overheated the engine oil and or transmission fluid or just confused the electronics.

He suspects my oil temp sensor is shot...but I should find out soon enough.
Whatever the issue is, I sincerely hope it will be covered under warranty...I will update this thread with more info as I get it.
Fortunately, everything is being fixed and replaced under warranty.

Suffice to say I am pretty pissed off because the damage to my ecu was caused by something completely unrelated but just by virtue of having my tune, I'm screwed. I'm pretty sure the tech isn't bullsh*tting me because he is a friend of my friend and mechanic. Now I'm faced with a bill that will most likely exceed $2K for a new ECU plus diagnostics and labor.
I was contemplating sending my ECU out to www.ecudoctors.com as they seem pretty thorough and offer a 5 year warranty on their work.
Should I attempt to repair my ECU before ordering a new one? Should i order a new one and attempt to repair my old one with the tune file on it?
Any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.
*Not all of you guys may get this one*
Jerry@Eurocharged said he got my ECU back up and running. It appears like it was some kind of a software issue - though I haven't had a chance to speak with him to discuss the specifics. (Jerry if you see this, please give me a call/email/PM or chime in here...)
He said he reset the module, reflashed the ecu and cleared all error codes thru STAR. I should have my ECU back today...the moment of truth will come when I plug it back in and fire her up.
Fingers crossed...
**Update
My ECU has arrived at my house...anxious to get home and plug it back. Definitely leaving the office early today...
