Audio 20 on a 2006 W203 C Class
Hi Guys,
Pretty awesome forum here and 2 weeks in of running my very first Merc, its been a blast so far!
I was wondering if anyone had any experience / knew of how to add an iPhone to the Audio 20 system. Is it that complex to do?? As mentioned above, my C class is 2006 so I'm guessing it is the facelift stereo I have.
What I would like is to have the iPhone sat in the centre arm rest and have the ability to be connected via USB. This way I could charge the phone as well as use it to play music. IF this is isnt possible, then a simple MP3 connection using aux I'll settle for as well as bluetooth to make calls.
If any of the above is possible, what do i need to purchase to make it work?
Hope you can help guys - its massively frustrating having a decent car with iPhone not synced to the system!
Hope you can help!
Mo.

I did this when i had my jvc double din installed. to get the ipod cable you would need an aftermarket radio, some are only 100 and very easy to install. or you can run the aux cable to the center arm rest.
For Bluetooth and all you should get a nice aftermarket radio that has everything and including a usb connection through the back, which you hook up an iPod cable to and run it along the passenger side and tuck it under the interior and into the arm rest.

LilBenz - Thanks for the info, before submitting my question, I did do a search. However, I couldn't find the relevant info and I used typical search terms.
Harley 17 - Thank you for your response, when I first purchased the vehicle, I thought of ripping the stereo out and replacing it for an aftermarket version. Now however, the Audio 20 has grown on me and I like how it looks (even though its a tad basic..) I think I may opt to purchase a command unit now - I don't know. Little more thinking to do do.

To connect an iPhone to use the phone functions with your steering wheel controls it may be possible with a Bluetooth puck installed in your car. In the UK I would check with your dealer to see if they have a solution. MBenzNL.nl might be able to get the parts for you at an attractive price. They can also advise on purchase and installation of a COMAND system for your market.
If you desire to listen to music on the iPhone that would easily be done with an AUX IN cable in the glovebox. It would use a 3.5mm miniplug to carry analog sound to the headunit. Some 2006 cars are not prewired to install the AUX IN cable, so you will need to be a good DIY guy to find the terminals and cable to connect to the headunit. There is a long thread on how to install the cable if your car is prewired with a connector in sill area under the front passenger door. The cable is cheap, and looks very professional in the glovebox.

If you car was pre-wired from the factory, then you can get the UHI kit to complete the phone system and then the Mercedes bluetooth puck (if you want OEM).
The iPod integration kit is a generation old and unfortunately won't recognize your iPhone/iPod touch from the dock connector for music.
I think the Dice product from Cartronics will take the CD Changer's position and give you bluetooth and AUX audio in. It's around $600-700 I believe.

And here's the DIY for the integration kit...I installed in mine (06C280) and a friend's (05C230K). You can buy the kit online--I got it on ebay.
