^ Thanks Pickles. There have been a few recent developments so I felt for the moment I should wait for some updates to resolve themselves. I'm definitely not holding my breath though...

Usually that is a felony.... I would of called it in, trust me the police would of loved to ruin his day, they hate people who impersonate them. Its a big public safety issue for them.

that is most definitely a felony in FL. i have thought about it before and if something like that happens to me with an unlikely looking undercover, I will call 911 before i start pulling over

Not sure what an "unlikely looking undercover" would look like I have seen everything from a bright yellow 1998 Jetta to gray 2005 Mustangs to black 2012 Dodge chargers.

As of late ANYTHING could be an undercover...

I called 911 twice...there were two separate incidents with same moron.. I think he got super-pissed because each time I looked at him with a incredulous faint smirk as he was screaming at me to pull over and waving his (star) badge/wallet. No way was I pulling over for that clown. It was laughable...but on a serious note I'm glad it was me and not somebody more helpless or gullible.

Not usually, always, in every state, impersonating a police officer is a felony.

I have a policy when it comes to police officers and unmarked vehicles.....

If I am not positive that the officer behind me pulling me over is legit, I call 911 and drive to the closest police/fire station.

I have done this twice in the past (I used to have a spotty driving history years ago), both times it was a legit officer in an unmarked, and both were understanding (the 911 operator notified the officers pulling me over that I was not going to stop till I reached a safe location), both times, a marked cruiser assisted and I pulled over.

Some areas are also starting to use seized vehicles as unmarked traffic enforcement vehicles.

I have seen pickups, minivans, sports cars (Fairfax in VA also supposedly have a black Nissan GT-R that has a crap ton of hidden lights and lights up like a christmas tree.. I have seen the vehicle, as the company that outfits vehicles for various police, fire and military contractors is around the corner from my office, so while the GT-R exists, it is speculation that it is being used by Fairfax County, or VA State Troopers).

It is no longer easy to pick the officers out easily in unmarked vehicles.

Absolutely. My first call to 911 was to tell them that I was not stopping for this individual because I did not believe he was a police officer. I tell all my women friends to do the same thing...call 911 and ask a cruiser to meet you enroute to wherever.

Update: Sorry for taking the original post down (I think it was a good read) but it was probably the right thing as the PD in question has now decided to investigate these incidents. I did get the plate number the second time around and call it in...I hope the pr1ck ends up regretting hassling me again.

Yes, but didn't get him on camera. But that's a good point...once I decided he was a freak and I wasn't stopping I should have snapped a photo.

His utter and complete lack of professionalism. Plus, he kept screaming at me to pull over and calling me every variation of the f word. And all because I was the last car in a row of three doing exactly 50 in a 50 zone. He wanted to go faster and seriously tailgated me, which started it all.

Nope, just his badge, mounted in the usual black wallet (all of which looked pretty legit) which he pulled out while ordering me to pull over.

I had an incident where a individual impersonating a police officer tried pulling me over in a unmarked white crown Vic loaded with police lights. The idiot made the worst mistake of his life pulling me over since I AM A REAL POLICE OFFICER in south Florida. After idiot was in cuffs and on the ground we found fake business cards fake badges and fake police ID's.

And your right we take it personal when it comes to people who do this. It's bad enough we have some bad apples that give us a bad name. We don't need criminals impersonating us.

Man I can't even imagine the "Oh s#it" look on their face when they realised their plan backfired.

To OP, I hope it all gets sorted and while I do want to read what your initial post said, I understand you deleting it.

It is the policy of some depts. ( here in south FLA) for unmarked vehicles to request a marked units on some traffic stops. If you do suspect the car to be questionable call 911 and drive to a police station. If the car is legit, the dispatcher will let you know right away. I hope this helps

In california a innocent girl was murdered approximately 25 years ago by a lunatic in an unmarked car i believe was impersonating an officer. As a result California uses only marked cruisers for traffic stops.
