Its been just 3 years and only about 20K miles on my GLK 350 and I can't believe to see all my 4 tires completely worn out. Anyway, I am thinking of replacing them all with Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport 99V from Costco. I am saving about $600+ for all 4 tires, when compared to Dealer's Continental (which is what came with the car during purchase).

Has anyone tried Bridgestone tires on GLK 350? Not sure if I should take this route or forget the savings and buy them from the dealer. Also, do they have to be installed only by Mercedes service professionals (I am worried about the tire sensors, etc). ?

Appreciate any advise/ideas.

Yes, I replaced the original Contis with Bridgestone 235/45R20XL 100W Dueler HP Sport B from my local Discount Tire store. Price per tire was $229 but with taxes, fees, balancing etc., total price out the door was $1058 for the four. I'm very pleased with these and highly recommend them.

I replaced mine with Michelin Primacy and they are superb. Very quiet and smooth as well as great handling. I think the best all around all season tire. I purchased the tires from Tire Van and was pleased with the price and service.

I must have lucked out. I had about 35K on my 2010 when I replaced them. My tire guy pre-ordered them about 3 months before I was ready. Have 20" Pirelli P Zero's on are replaced with the same ones. Car rides great and I was out the door @ $185 per tire. This was several months ago.

Those Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport 99V from Costco looks like a pretty good tire, might take a look at those next season if I have to replace mine. As for the install, just about any garage can change the tires, just find a good garage that you can trust with your rims. ( mind you the cost at a dealer is not much difference for the tire install )

i got a question for you folks:

I have the original dunlops on my GLK with 35,000kms. It's never been rotated at services (i didn't know this isn't included with my dealer service unlike my other cars). the fronts have 6/10 and the rear 3/10 left. I want to replace the tires before winter:

should i:

a) replace just the rear with dunlops (they're expensive, priced at 80% of 4 Pirelli)

b) just get 4 new Pirellis

Thoughts?

If you are thinking of purchasing tires, go to tirerack.com and do some research on the tires and more importantly, the attributes that are most important to you.

I agree on finding a good garage. Costco changed the tires on my minivan and left circumferential scratches on the rims. They wouldn't acknowledge that they did it. So I'm definitely not letting them touch the GLK when the time comes. Weird because previously I did not have issues with this particular Costco tire center.

There are many local tire dealers (maybe not the nationals) that will meet or beat tire rack. Just get the Pirelli's.

My MB dealer told me they would match any legitimate price for anything on my GLK... new tires, chromed wheels, etc.

May be worth giving yours a shot to do the same...

Thanks guys. I'm going to get the Pirelli's. Not sure what i was thinking but tires are definately not the thing to cheap out on, lol

I agree that we should not cheap out on tires.
Right now I have about 70,000km on the original Pirelli's. I hope I can get one more season out of 'em before I get the P-Zeros .

If by season you mean Fall and not winter I think that's OK. If you mean winter do you think you have enough meat on them to get you through a Canadian winter?

Please remember you all, Pirelli makes several versions of the P-Zero. This one is the Pirelli P-Zero Summer Max Performance. Not to be confused with the All-Season OEM Pirelli Scorpion Zero that came on the car from the factory as seen below.

I do have another set of snow tires which I bought from MB.
That's why I am interested in P-Zero tires.
Otherwise I wouldn't even think about these summer tires.

I Just put 255 45 20 Pirelli scorpion zeros and they are smoother than the original factory dunlops....I highly recommend them as their price performance ratio is phenomenal.

With that size installed, there's no rubbing when you're making a U turn?

Be careful if you're considering the Bridgestone Potenza tire. My Mazda RX-8 came equipped new with Potenza's and they sucked in terms of wear and noise. As to handling, the Potenza's were awesome, but the road noise would drive you insane after they got 5000+ miles on them. They were worn out at 22k miles and I couldn't wait to replace them. I went with Kumho's and I'm real happy.
