2002 c230 Kompressor Oil Change

SInce it was tough to find the exact oil change spec on this site for this car, I research about 4 different ones and I went ahead and did it last night and it took about 45 minutes. Here is what I used:

Remember this is for a 2002 c230 Kompressor 2.3. My car has 29k miles on it now.

My car has the oil filler cap in the middle of the engine with the oil filter just to its drivers side left and front. My car also has a dipstick.

MB fleece oil filter ( ordered online)
Mobile 1 0w-40w 7 quarts at Autozone9 6.38 a QT
New Drain plug and crush washer (local shop)
76mm oil filter removal tool (autozone $3.99) works like a champ
8mm socket for skid plate removal
13 mm socket for Oil drain plug removal

I bought a set of ramps just so that it would be safer and easier to work on. I used both the dipstick and the car electronic guage to make sure it was full. My car took about 6.4 quarts. Remember when you first turn the car back on after the oil change, the engine will make a whining sound as the oil pump if filling up the new Oil filter reservior. I took the old oil right back to Autozone and the whole thing cost me $58.53.. Not bad!

It is very straightforward and easy to do. I think I could do it in about 30 minutes next time.

I can post pictures if everyone wants to see them.

Might want to just use a topsider next time. It's a hell of a lot easier. If interested, do a search; it's been written up a couple of times.

How come only 29k miles? That's impressive!

Thanks Tommy. I read all about the topsiders and that may be in the future. This was my first go at it and it was good to get the drain plug and crush washer replaced. The car actually sounded quieter to me this morning and there was some slight increase in response times.

As far as the miles, a local woman purchased this car from her brother, who is a dealer in New York. She drove it down and used it for about 2 years and it stayed mostly in her garage as she became older and unable to drive. Her son would come over and drive it some and they finally decided to sell it. I took it to a certified dealer and it checked out great. The gas mileage is much better than my Chevy Tahoe. its a great car so far.

For a jug of gin I'll stand along side and do it with you.
For a Big A$$ jug, I'll do it for you.

You just need to get the parts together.

Oil Changes on the M111 are easy. You just need to know what you are doing.

This is totally off topic but I have a 2002 C230 and I suspect I got some bad gas. Can i siphon the gas out or would I have to drain it? And how does one drain the gas tank in that car?

I'd try to siphon it, and then put fresh gas in.
Best senario is to pay to have it drained, then no worrying about possibly blowing yourself up, and then having to deal with storing and disposing of the old gas.

What symptom are you getting that causes you to believe you have 'bad' gas?
And in what way do you feel it's bad?
Maybe you need a new fuel filter as well.
BE CAREFUL whatever you do.

Should probably move this conversation to it's own thread.

I do not know if it can be Siphoned but ill try it today. Otherwise ill have to drain it. Im just not sure how.
The fuel pump and filter was recently changed probably 6 months ago and i think its bad gas because its sputtering plus the whole car is shaking. It is either bad gas or a lower grade gas I believe. I honestly have no idea but its safe to assume one of those options given the circumstances Long Island is in right now with the gas shortage and using a random gas station that has the only premium on the island lol.

Did you narrow down the problem, I put in octane boosters fuel cleaners after a gas syphon. After Sandy i mean, im also in LI. Did you get some gas from a dirty container maybe?
