06 C55 Amg Reliability w/ 60k Miles?

Im sure there's hundreds of posts on this but I'm thinking of purchasing a 06 c55 but i was curious about the reliability of these cars? From what i hear they generally dont have very many problems and keeping up with maintenance should be a breeze.

C55 pretty reliable, around 60k you should check valve cover for oil leaks, check all the fluids brakes, coolant, tranny oil, only thing expensive on my c55 is tires and oil....

Motor mounts, and transmission mounts tend to go out every 30k-40k miles approx... I been through 2 sets on my car. Other then that easy maintence. Just keep the fluids current and your good.

C55's are tanks. Don't hesitate, buy the car. I bought mine at 52k miles... we're up to 98k now. Issues minor and just regular maintenance. If I had the extra cash I'd have two of these guys.

Bought at 90, have 99k. No issues at all. car rides fine! Just regular maint is best. I check oil weekly and coolant weekly.

Although, mine was maintained very well at dealership.

I put on 20k miles in 7 months and it handled it like a champ. They are tanks, indeed. Just make sure to do a tranny flush if it has not been done, check your valve cover gaskets for leaks and motor mounts.

+1 on valve covers leaking and motor mounts. I think mine was driven pretty hard though by the original owner. Still a reliable car, as these things are not going to put you on the side of the road unless you let them get out of hand.

yeah second on the valve cover gaskets.. but really that's a small issue.

So where are the pics of this new C55 you bought? =)

60k miles? I'd start parting out the car to get my money back. These things blow at like 40k.

In all seriousness, you'll have no problems at 60k. (hopefully)

I'm a fanatic and drive my car very hard and all is good at 120k miles. Regular maintence like everyone said. I too have given up on my driver's side seat heater after two replacements. Also replaced the plastic donut on the steering wheel height adjustment motor twice (common) and do not now adjust my steering wheel more than once a year. Motor mounts every 40 to 50k., tranny fluid & filter change every 40-50k, change your differential oil every 50k. I had to have my secondary air pump rebuilt ($125 & 3 days with a guy from ebay). Plugs and wires should be changed every 50k. Check valve cover gaskets. Mine went at 60k but have been good since. Tranny mounts, and the seal between the tranny electrical connector and the shifter box are suspect and should be changed. I had my rear seal (t'wn engine and tranny) done at 75k. The alternator regulator (brushes) should be changed at about 60-75k. The crank position sensor and maf as needed (about every 75k). I do the oil and filter every 5k miles with Mobile 1 0W40 or 5W40 M formula. Some do their oil every 7.5k miles or 10k miles without trouble. Oh and I had to replace my radiator at 100k since the plastic to metal connection separated and I had to replace two stepper motors (auto climate control motor that control the internal flaps) -- the last two repairs, however, are not usual.

It’s very encouraging to hear how robust these cars are proving to be. They seem to be able to handle a lot of punishement too – from road course and autocross action to the dragstip. Personally, the only real problems I’ve encountered are with the valve cover gaskets leaking (replaced twice) – not a huge deal. As a preventative measure, I’ll probably look at replacing the crank position sensor and voltage regulator in the future.
