Function of buttons in center compartment

The center compartment on my 2001 E430 has two buttons: One with an "i" and the other with a wrench icon. I can't find any info in the owner's manual or online. What are they for?

Do you mean in the instrument cluster and do they disappear after a short time---like letting you know something is due---for an example an oil change!

Is this car new to you?

No.. This is something related to the TeleAid system. if they works in your E430, when you press the "i" button you got some operator (via phone call) to help you with any "I"NFO, when you press the "wrench" button your call are re-directed to the Mercedes-Benz 24H Service center (if you need a tow or something like that).

This works when they are propperly programed and you have the phone service working too

Best look my friend

Also this buttns are located inside the little compartment in the center console, not in the IC
