ML430 Horn

I have a '99 ML430 and the horn has stopped working. When you press the horn nothing happens. I checked the fuse, 44 I think it was and that was not the problem. Has anyone had this problem before? Or can anyone suggest what the problem may be? Thanks.

Thanks, I'll check that relay. I did check the proper fuse (37 if memory serves) and the fuse was not blown. Thanks for your help. Let's see if the relay does the trick

My mistake it is relay K2...switch the fuel pump relay and the horn relay they are the same part. Good luck

The horn in my Ml is embarassing. I'm afraid to honk it! It sounds like someone is strangling a goose!!
Anyone replace it with anything better??

Yes, I upgraded to the ML55 horns, easy swap. Cost was around $60.00 or so, depending where you buy them.

Since the ML55 costs about $20,000.00 more than the other models they must have decided to put a louder horn in it.
You might want to read this link http://forums.mbnz.org/forums/forums...=49864&posts=9 You can also search the www.benzworld.org forums and find more info on these horns. Take my word on it............. they sound a hell of a lot better than the stock ML horns.

Horn replacement

I installed the Hella horns from Griot's Garage. They're better than stock, but still not as good as I'd like.

They also offer these "Super Loud Italian air horns":

I really like the idea of having air horns...I see Drew from Benzworld has them in his truck. Have to check out the video he posted there with the sound of them!
Anyone here put those air horns in an ML? They look big....do they fit??
I want to order them from Griot's garage but I'm afraid to do the install myself.
Do you think the dealership would install those for me??
I figure not....they would probably charge an arm and a leg for it too!

The Griot's one is quite small--5 1/2" h x 3 3/4" w x 4 1/4" d. Not sure if it will fit in the factory position.Wiring should be as simple as hooking into the stock harness. If you don't feel capable of doing it yourself, go to a good independent mechanic.
