Rear seat belt stuck

So both of my rear seat belts are jammed up, i took it to the dealer and they said they could not cover it under warrentee because my car is now considered an import even though the car has less that 24k miles. By the way I moved to england.

I've seen this before whereby you move to another country and then you only get the 1 year 12000(?) miles International warranty. Only exception I know of is European delivery and some military programs.

You'll have to check your reverse situation with them.

The one that I heard of is when they buy a vehicle in Germany to US specs it carries that countries warranty. But upon transfer back to the States the US warranty takes over.

BERLIN -(Dow Jones)- Mercedes-Benz, a division of DaimlerChrysler AG (NYSECX - News) , Friday said it is recalling about 33,000 cars worldwide, in another sign of slipping quality at the luxury carmaker.
The company will notify owners of C, CLK, and E Class models, built between August and October 2003, to check potentially faulty belt buckles. The company described the checks as precautionary.

It said it found isolated cases where the buckles failed to click into place properly.

Of the cars to be recalled, about 12,000 are from Germany.

The news is another blow to Mercedes-Benz's reputation for quality. The luxury carmaker has seen its image battered recently by poor scores on quality surveys. It has suffered, above all, from electronics problems.

For United States members there is no warranty for seat belts. It is a US law that the manufacturer must provide support for seat belts for the life of the car, no questions asked.

The only exception is if you cut the belt yourself or they prove it's your fault.

If a seatbelt breaks on your 1999 Mercedes in 2010 they still need to fix it.

My 1996 Maxima with a salvage title was fixed under warranty by Nissan in 2002 well outside a warranty that I never had.

Just information...
