2002 MB C240 (203)
Arrow 2002 - 2007 Mercedes-Benz C240 (203) Information

Hi everyone,

I had so many questions about my 2002 MB C240 when I got it that I decided to start a post with answers to questions I was having trouble finding online even here in the forum! So I'll be posting information as I can and hope it helps other new C class owners like me!

Above is an image for the engine compartment layout of a MB C Class V6 Model

1- Coolant expansion tank and pressure cap
2- Interior ventilation filter and battery access cover
3- Brake fluid reservoir access cover

RED ARROW This is where the engine oil dipstick / dipstick tube cap location on V6 engines only.

CYLINDER LOCATION ON THE V6 is:

2- Automatic transmission fluid filler tube
3- Engine oil dipstick tube

CYLINDER LOCATION ON THE four-cylinder is:

Please note that this cars DID NOT come equipped with a dipstick but you can actually buy one from the dealer
(part number 120 589 07 21 00) or aftermarket from the web. Unlike most vehicles, a dipstick is not present in the oil filler tube. My preference is the dealers dipstick even though it costs more money but it works the best in my opinion. Otherwise you can check the oil level using the multi-function display method on the instrument cluster (refer to owners manual).

CAUTION - The dipstick used for checking the oil on 2005 and earlier models is only a tool and it should never be left in the dipstick tube when the vehicle is operated. On 2006 and later the oil level is checked with a dipstick which is located on the side of the engine.

The oil level should only be checked before the car has been driven, or about 5 minutes after the engine has been shut off. If the oil is checked immediately after driving the car, some of the oil will remain in the upper part of the engine, resulting in an inaccurate reading on the dipstick and/or on the multy-function display.

most of the content and actual procedures on how to do the work is here in the wiki plus the approved mb oils and fluids to use. also they have pdf formats of the owners and service manuals.

Many "newbies" dont know that there is a WIKI link at the very top of the site that has a lot of technical and informative pages. Plus it has a lot of the shop manuals on removing and installing the basic things straight from the MB service cd.

Does this windshield water system has a fuse? I thought the pump is broken so I got one and installed. It is not working, not to say any noise. So I think it might be something else?
Could any one help? Thanks.

do not buy water pump yet

I search around the previous message left in this website and found that I am also a victim of common knowledge. The windshield water spray of a Mercedes C240 is different from the U.S. made. When you press the stalk slightly, the wiper moves only. You have to press the stalk harder to 2nd stage, the the spray is activated.

My pump did not broken, so now I have a spare pump.

Thanks to everyone here.
