Carbon Ceramic Rotors for CLS

Racingbrake can design and build two piece light weight two piece rotors using Corvette ZR1 CCM discs if anyone is interested.

The weight reduction is about 50% from iron rotors.

It's fine to just run ceramic rotors on the stock pads? What's the difference in calipers/pads on the OEM CCB option vs. the standard one?

Wow! I viewed their site but didn't see anything ref what you describe for MB? Or do I click on Chevy/Corvette applications & then email them for process you describe? Thank you

We haven't tried MB stock pads yet, but carbon pads are being developed which will be tested exclusively for carbon rotors.

The matching pads will be bundled with the rotors as a package.

Sorry we have not listed CCM rotors under Mercedes yet, but if you look for others we will see them:

Ferrari F430
Porsche 997 Turbo and GT3
Aston Martin DBS

For above we offer both CCM rotors and Iron (commonly known as Steel Rotors) as stock replacement:

CCM rotors are generally favored by owners for street driving, due to the lighter weight greatly improves the handling and riding comfort, plus the benefits that usually we heard a lot of complaints that associated with heavy and bulky iron rotors:

Pros:
Very little or no dust.
Rotor & pad last very long time.

Cons:
Too expensive to replace.
It may not stop at initial cold temperature.

Since we have offered both CCM rotor and Iron rotor replacements, so we have the knowledge on both set up. With the advancement of technology CCM rotors are getting better and lower in costs (although dealers still charges $8000/rotor) and gaining popularity. While track people still prefer iron rotors for better modulation and track abuse, and most of all the lower maintenance cost of rotor and pad replacement.

Nissan GT-R is another community where quite a few people converted the stock iron rotors to CCM. Below is a presentation discussing CCM brake kits offered by RacingBrake:

http://www.gtrheritage.com/topic/236...-is-there-one/

Likewise since we have made most of two piece rotors for Mercedes, so we think CCM rotors might be of interest to MB owners as well.

Does yours CLS63 come with ceramic rotors or you are looking for upgrading to ceramic rotors.

We have light weight two piece iron rotor replacement here:

Just to clarify the point about running in cold temps, since late Novembre I got an E63S with the CCB brakes and live in Montreal where I have experienced them on a dayly basis in temps as low as -15F and initial stopping is very good and really not a concern, also they have never squeaked either. Love my CCB !

Thanks!

@RacingBrake so which pads would we use with the carbon ceramic discs? I just did a brake service on my brakes not too long ago but I'll definitely look into these for the next service.

Also for MB that have steels and CCB as an option, the ESP programming is different for both cars to account for the difference in brake material. Any thoughts on this in regards to swapping out steel for ceramic hardware without adjusting any software?

Thank you.

We are developing an affordable CCM brake kit for Mercedes using GM's CCM rotors with MB 6 pot red or our low profile 6 piston caliper and will verify the fitment with a template under 19" wheels.

Thanks so what replacements do you have now for the 2012 CLS63? I see the application list says 07-10.

Also, what about a 2014 GL63?

We believe it's good for 07-13 while we are checking to see if 2014+ has any change in spindle/brake set up.

GL s/b same as ML which we have front two piece but the rear is being made available pending to OE rotor sample purchase.

I can tell you 100% it's the same on 2014+. Only the front brake line is different.

Do you guys have anything for 2014 Audi RS7?
