Another New Black C230

I picked up my 2005 C230 last Friday. It was definitely worth the wait to get the color and options I wanted. The car was ordered on 7/19 and delivered to the dealer on 8/28, not bad. Car details, manual trans., black/black inserts, sunroof pkg., lighting pkg., power driver seat w/memory and split fold down rear seat.

very nice... almost identical to my car.

what brand tires are those... mine came with Michelon Pilots... the tread on your tires looks a bit different.

All the cars at the dealer had the Michelin tires to but my car came with Conti Sport Contacts. This is okay with me since I recently had 2 sets of 225/45 17 pilot sports on my Audi and they only lasted 25k miles and were so noisey after 15k miles I was happy to replace them early.

Just curious, so custome order comes with different tires? Did you ask for it?

congrats with the new car, but better not drive over some puddle of water with those conti sport. I had the conti sport on my 00 328Ci and my sis currently has conti sport 2 on her CLK320, and let me tell you that these tires will hydroplane all day over water. We thought the conti sport 2 might be better, but NOPE they are pretty much the same crap other than having great dry traction.

btw, is that a 993 Turbo I see in th garage?

The Passport is just temporally wired to the cig lighter plug across the top of the dash to the side then under to the lighter plug (if you look close you can see the wire).

The Porsche in the garage is an all-original '98 Carrera S (last of the water cooled cars) not a turbo but has the factory turbo S aero package (total factory options were ~$20K). Perfect condition concours car with 9k miles.

The Pilot Sports tires were the best tires I ever drove on in the rain so I'm sorry to hear about the wet performance of the Conti's.

When did you debadge it ? Was it a long time after you had it ? I did a search on debadging and read that someone did it and his paint "...faded and where the c240 use to be, it was darker...At close up, you could still read c240..." .

I'm going to do it as soon as I pick up the car at the dealer today. I like the clean look without the badges. If I could only have not gotten the front license plate holder installed it would have been better but they do it to all cars as soon as they arrive so it's not a choice at that dealer. I might just take it off and place 2 small black screws or plugs there.

BTW, how should debadge her so I don't scratch the new paint ?

I heard the 05's are selling like hotcakes, my dealer told me that they were having a real problem keeping these cars in stock.

Yes they are and that's why I went and paid for mine even though I wasn't able to bring it home. Wanted to make sure the guy didn't sell it to anyone else ! I posted pictures on "Official C-Class Picture Thread" . I think it was post # 193.
