It is the most powerful " production" 2.0ltr IL4 engine in the World and to that end, that is totally correct.
FQ Evos are a limited edition aftermarket enhanced product produced only in and for the U.K market.
The AMG 2.0ltr is a main stream unlimited OEM production engine for the whole World market.

Yes it is. But I would never buy a car with such a complicated engine unless it is proven on the market for at least a few years. It seems really complicated to the point of asking, "Why not just go for a larger displacement to achieve the same goal?!??"
Anyway, who knows? Volvo might prove me wrong and I really hope it does because I actually happen to like their cars.

Not only the most powerful production 2 liter motor on the market but one with excellent tuning potential. We've been running our shop CLA45 at over 410 horsepower for several months now without any issues and this is on a bone stock car with only an ECU reflash!

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
Do you have torque steer on the front wheels?

No, for a couple of reasons. The CLA45's 4Matic system is front wheel drive until it detects or expects front wheel spin, but the system appears to work extremely well and it shifts power to the rear extremely quickly. Also, the turbo does take a small amount of time to spool up and power delivery is smooth so it doesn't have a tendency to snap the tires loose.
Net result: you can stand on the throttle, even coming out of tight corners, and the car just fires itself forwards. We've even raced our CLA45 in the rain and it's always easy to control.
I would honestly say I've felt more torque steer in the stock CLA250 than in our tuned CLA45. The best mod you can do on those 250s is move to a larger wheel and tire package or at least lose the stock tire and go for something stickier!

Thats clearly a one off or close to it prototype. I don't think volvo has the ***** to let it see the light of day. Their polestar 6 cylinder makes 355HP? or so?

It is very much just a prototype at this stage.
If it does become a production reality, by that time all of the other major competing brands will also have something to offer to either match up to or beat it.
AMG have stated that they are already prepared if and when the time comes for a power war in the IL4 segment with the speculated 400+hp VAG line up, which up until now are also not in production yet.

True point, which brings me to my next concern - what is the lifespan of these high output small complicated motors and would you buy one secondhand?
I am interested to see how things shape up in 2 years when owners start selling their used A/CLA45's before the motor plans run out, even more so for the modded cars.
I could write a whole article on smaller high output motors like the VW Scirocco and Golf R's, Ford Focus ST's, Subaru STi's and EVO's. What about the current trend with small hatchback cars using 1L turbo engines? I have seen and personally experienced tons of turbo failure over the last 10 years (and it aint cheap to fix), but now manufacturers are placing even more strain on even smaller motors with higher boost levels and then idiots like me are cranking them up a notch or twenty.
There is something to be said for the old American saying of 'there aint no replacement for displacement'.

Nick Connor from Volvo UK said it best when he said, "It’s right to have one or two performance products, but we won’t stretch it too much." I don't think Volvo can offer serious competition to the A45 AMG. One manufactures performance cars and the other makes a range of estates. Many of the comparisons that are made with the A45 are like that of comparing apples to oranges.
