Will an A45 fetch 50% after 3 years?

A friend of mine who owns an A45 told me that his car will be at about half it's purchase price in 3 years time. He expects to do an average mileage in that time and he usually keeps his cars in good condition with regular maintenance and care. But I wonder - is he being realistic?

GLA45 AMG
An unequivocal, NO! You're lucky if it will bring 1/3 the price.

Apologies in advance as I don't mean to offend but just to help the OP on the topic your answer above is totally ridiculous...

Resale values are based on many aspects those above have nothing to do with it, what you've stated above is your own personal feelings on the vehicle nothing to do with resale or value retention

In most Countries depreciation on vehicles of this category will be high in the immediate term, 3-5 years then hold steady thereafter.

In some Countries where the new car purchase price is extremely high, immediate term depreciation will also be extremely high simply because that initial purchase price was OTT to begin with, here in Australia for example you can expect a drop of approx. 30-40% after 3 years as said earlier it varies from Country to Country just as the initial purchase price varies.

In the longer term depending on specifically what model and model variant it is it will hold either better or worse than another, some may actually begin to appreciate in value as they age even further - eg. a BS model.
