Removing Rear Bumper Stopper

Does anyone have info how to remove the US version bumper thingy? It looks like its mounted on with double sided tape and a screw through the bumper. The Euro version does not have these 2 pieces:

Looks like this guy got it removed...what was use to plug the 2 mounting holes?

I can't believe how much these two things bugs you guys lol... I really don't care, didn't even notice it until I hear all you complain about it.

I'm assuming they are screwed in from the backside (inside) the bumper... I think it looks better with them, then removed and plugged. I do agree the Euro version is a little sleeker.

With that long hood, I believe these are an essential part of the design goal. Looks emasculated without them, one might argue appropriate for the continental market. But trimmed flush with just the license plate inset, I think it would look fantastic.

Im with you TurboT. Those bumperettes are bad! How bout you rip yours off and tell us how it goes. I think it looks a lot cleaner without them.

I too want to remove these bumperettes. I live in the Philippines and our standard issued plates wont fit without taking these out. I hope there's a simpler way of removing them without disassembling the entire rear bumper.

Hope someone can share his experience in removing these bumperettes.

Thanks.

I've researched more on these bumperettes as I'm determined to take them out. It looks like it's more than just double sided tapes and screws holding it. For the 911 owners that have it removed, there's a protruding steel bar that goes beyond the bumper and sticks out to the inside of the bumperettes. Once removed, they had to cover the big square like hole with aluminum and had a body shop repaint the same area.

I think the picture above showing only two small holes without the bumperettes are Euro version units that had a europlate frame installed previously. I hope I'm wrong since I'm still wishing that it will be an easy removal.

Hope someone here can shed more light on this. Thanks.

I think they look bad either with or without it. Now if MODE Carbon or someone else made a CF filler plate for that spot that might look cool with the bumper things removed.

You will probably miss them when some ******* parks his ****ty car right against yours in the parking lot.
Some jerkoff parked his dented and beat on POS car literally 1&1/2 inches from my AMG GT S front end last week when I was parked way way down an empty street. You know how these idiots drive, they back up til they make contact and laugh and move forward an inch.
And they are so non self aware it never occurs to them...hey I act like a piece of **** maybe that's why I am not successful and have no friends lol

I wanted to remove these and went out to my car to contemplate it. And here's what I found. Some a-hole had already made use of them. Now I'm not so keen to remove it.

My previous car, a Porsche 997 c4s has them and they had definitely been contacted with, one the paint chipped from a hit. They are quite useful imo

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
euro plates are long, other country plates are rectangle. they build a car in europe to conform. when its sold in other countries w/ rectangle plates they add the bumperettes to fill. Dont want to make 2 different bumpers. If you then sold the car to a opposite country you would have to change the bumper. If you take them out, youre going to look wrong.

The bumperettes can be removed. Its not double side tape. The bumper has to come off to remove the screw holding the bumperettes, then you would have to fill the small hold with rubber tabs or vinyl wrap the bumper. I'll post some photos when i get to my home computer.

I got these pics from someone selling their GTS bumperettes on ebay. So as what turbotonee mentioned, this is attached with four screws. The question now really is what's the best way to cover the existing holes once these bumperettes are removed. Also, since the rear bumper needs to be taken down to "unscrew" the bumps, I'm now beginning to think if the removal of the bumperettes will be worthwhile. Is it easy to remove the rear bumper... anyone?

Covering the wholes is simply done with black plastic fitting or small touch up at any bodyshop, won't take that long. In my opinion, it's worth the while, those bumperettes look ugly. The tough part is removing/reinstalling the rear bumper. My concern is it only four screws holding the bumperettes with double-sided tape?
